So, access to your favorite sites is blocked. It turns out that scammers have come up with a virus that redirects you to their sites, and you cannot access social networks. These sites may be similar to VK, OK and FB, and when you enter your username and password there, they are simply stolen.

How the virus works

Sites have names, for example vk.com, mail.ru, yandex.ru, and each of them has an IP address made up of numbers. In the operating room Windows system XP/7-10 yes special file“.hosts”, in which the virus enters the names of the sites it wants to block and assigns them the IP addresses of its fake mini-sites. And when you enter “vk.com” or “ok.ru” in the address bar of your browser, the browser goes to exactly the site that the virus has registered in the “.hosts” file.

Now that we know how this all happens, let’s determine ways out of the situation. To check whether this is exactly the problem, simply enter its IP address in the address bar of your browser instead of the site name:

Restoring access

It may happen that the edited file is not saved and an “Access Denied” error appears. If all this seems complicated, then you can simply delete the “.hosts” file! It doesn't affect anything!

The most common reason for the inability to log into Contact is a virus entering the computer and a failure in the settings that causes the problem of logging into this site. However, first of all, you should check your Internet connection and see if other websites are loading.

Why Contact doesn't work - probable reasons

Any user of a social network, sooner or later, may encounter the fact that my contact page does not open. There can be many reasons for this, some can be resolved quickly, in other cases it will take some time and more experienced computer knowledge.

3. Antivirus scan

4. Redirect to another IP address

• Frequently occurring cases of problems with popular social networks are deliberate malicious changes to the site’s IP address and redirections to another. • If as a result the VKontakte page will open, this means the virus has made changes to the system files of the computer and vk.com redirects to another ip address.
• In the case when the VKontakte site still does not open, the existing redirection, unfortunately, cannot be determined for sure either, since viral changes can redirect all transitions, since every day the creators of such viral schemes improve their skills. We need to understand further.

Such changes can redirect to pages that are duplicates of the social network site, outwardly indistinguishable from the original, and the user may not immediately determine this, follow the suggested instructions for restoring the page (this is the most likely), or simply re-enter his data (login and password). As a result, you can lose money on your phone account or your own account, or maybe all together. At the moment, unfortunately, protection against such fraudulent activities Even an antivirus program does not provide complete protection.

5. VKontakte does not open due to changes made to the Hosts file

If you cannot log in to specific page on the Internet and especially on a social network, the ban on entry is most likely contained in the hosts file located on your computer. Find this file To check whether the problems with VKontakte not working are related to it, you can go to: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc in the OS (for windows xp, 7, 8, 10).

• Open the above file using Notepad (in our case, the default notepad is Notepad):

If below you see the address of a site that you cannot access or the IP of this site, this means that your problem is related to the hosts file, which contains a list of corresponding IP addresses and domain names. By typing the address, you are taken not to this site, but to another one - empty or fake.

Example:

If you are afraid to make any changes to the system files, you can try to restore the system to the moment when you were able to access the site you need without problems. To do this you must enter the menu " Start» -> « Control Panel" and select " Recovery»:

You need to go through the captcha, enter the letters and numbers from the picture into a special window. It remains to confirm that the VK page is indeed your “property”.

A message with a code should be sent to the specified number, which you must enter in a special field and click “change password.”

After the manipulations, you need to come up with more complex password. It will also be better if you write it down in your notebook so that you don’t have to restore the page again.

Now you can get in touch. Use the same login, but a fresh password that you recently came up with. To prevent an incident from happening, a second message will be sent to your phone. You will be reminded of the information you entered so you don’t forget it.
