Windows 7 is installed on personal computers and laptops. Users are interested in the characteristics of a PC when they are going to buy it or when there are problems with the "hardware".

The need for device information arises in the following cases:

  • When buying new equipment. In this case, the user is interested in the performance index;
  • Modernization when it is necessary to replace obsolete components system unit;
  • Installing and updating drivers;
  • The PC freezes and it is impossible to immediately understand the reasons;
  • At the time of buying new game... It is important to know what the video card and processor can handle;
  • Interested in your PC;
  • When you need to know the temperature hard disk and processor.

To find out the characteristics of the PC, go through the order Start / Computer / Properties. There you can determine the basic capabilities of your hardware.

There is a general assessment of the performance of all systems personal computer- performance index. This is a service operating system, which gives an assessment of its effectiveness. The score is determined by the number of points that are assigned based on the speed of decision making of the components. For Windows 7, the score ranges from 7.9 to 1.0.

The performance index tracks performance:

  • Processor - its efficiency, in the ratio of operations performed at a certain time;
  • RAM - the ability to carry out a certain number of operations per second;
  • Interface graphs - graphical effects of the desktop and 2D games, which do not require high performance of the video card;
  • 3D graphics - modern games requiring a 3D effect and special applications that put a load on the video card;
  • Hard Drive - The ability to read and write information per second.

You can get information about the state of the PC through the "Device Manager". You can get to it through Control Panel / System and Security / Device Manager. "Device Manager" allows you to track the presence of all existing systems... It monitors drivers and their availability.

Windows 7 monitors audio and video separately using its own diagnostic tools. Through the start menu, in the search for your computer, you will find DirectX.

This utility keeps track of the basic characteristics of the device. In addition to the main version of DirectX, there are also updated ones. DirectX can be downloaded from the official Microsoft website.

how still possible see the characteristics of a computer on windows 7? Among standard programs Windows 7 has a "System Information" service. You can find them through the Start menu.

The list of programs that monitor the performance of your computer is quite extensive. Among them there are modern and past current programs that users love. Some information about Windows computer 7 saves to BIOS.

Naturally, every computer is of great value to its owner. And this does not depend on what general parameters and power it has, but of course the moment comes when you need to understand the settings and its main characteristics in your favorite assistant.

And all this happens due to the fact that at some point, for example, there may be a desire to buy and install some newfangled toy. And for this toy there will be certain necessary parameters or the so-called Windows, and you should understand whether it is suitable for a computer or whether you will need to install something simpler, or update the existing hardware configuration.

Well, in general, in order to find out the basic properties and parameters of your computer, you do not need to delve into all kinds of documentation that came with it or explore a large number of pages on the Internet. At the moment, everything has become much easier, since these parameters can be viewed directly on the computer, namely in the characteristics of Windows.

Properties that can be viewed inside the computer

As mentioned earlier, all the necessary characteristics can be viewed directly in your favorite "friend", to which you have constant access.

  1. Initially, you should go to the actual computer properties. In order to carry out this procedure, you should click on the "Computer" shortcut, which is located directly on the desktop. Select "Properties" with the right mouse button.

In this case, you should definitely pay attention to the "System" block, since in this section you can find out everything about the processor, the system, how much RAM the computer is endowed with, as well as the Windows index.

That is, to put it simply, the last indicator will indicate how the computer is working, for example, the higher the last indicator, the faster the work will take place, and, accordingly, the more performance your PC will have.

  1. There is also one more function with which you can find out these characteristics - view the main properties of the system. In order to do this, you should find the line "Run" in the "Start" menu and enter "msinfo32" into it (of course, no quotation marks are indicated when entering) and after entering, press Enter. At this moment, a window will appear in which you can view complete information about Windows.
  2. And of course there is another way by which you can find out the characteristics and parameters of the computer. In order to perform it, you should perform the actions that were spelled out in the first paragraph. After completing these steps, you need to select the line "Counters and productivity tools".

Then select Display and Print Detailed Computer and System Performance Information. It is at this point that you can see especially important characteristics Windows.

External programs

You can, of course, use external programs that are installed on your computer so that you can constantly monitor Windows. That is, you can install special gadgets for Windows 7, which are currently quite widespread and diverse.

There are, of course, cases when using the listed actions it is not possible to view the information of interest on Windows. Then you can apply a variety of programs that in a short time will provide the maximum amount of necessary information about the characteristics and parameters that can be viewed with ease.

Thanks to these tips, everyone will be able to find the corresponding necessary characteristics, properties and parameters of their Windows and easily view them.

To run some programs, games, and specific processes, the hardware and software of the computer must meet certain requirements. To find out how your system meets these characteristics, you need to view its parameters. Let's find out how to do this on a Windows 7 PC.

There are two main ways to view computer parameters on Windows 7. The first is to use special third-party diagnostic software, and the second involves extracting the necessary information directly through the operating system interface.

Method 1: Third-party programs

Let's start exploring options for viewing PC settings using third-party programs, choosing one of the most popular - AIDA64. Using this software as an example, we will consider the algorithm of actions.

Method 2: Internal system functionality

The main parameters of the computer can also be viewed using exclusively the internal functionality of the system. True, this method still cannot provide such a large amount of information as the use of third-party specialized software. In addition, it should be noted that in order to obtain the necessary data, you will have to use several OS tools, which is not convenient for all users.

Also, some additional information about the system can be determined using the tool DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

  1. Dial the combination Win + R... Enter in the field:

    Click on "OK".

  2. In the window that opens in the tab "System" you can view some of the data that we saw in the properties of the computer, as well as some others, namely:
    • Manufacturer's name and model of the motherboard;
    • BIOS version;
    • The size of the paging file, including free space;
    • DirectX version.
  3. When switching to a tab "Screen" the following information will be presented:
    • Name of the manufacturer and model of the video adapter;
    • The size of his memory;
    • Current screen resolution;
    • Monitor name;
    • Enabling hardware acceleration.
  4. In the tab "Sound" information about the name of the sound card is displayed.
  5. In the tab "Enter" provides information about the PC mouse and keyboard.

If you need more detailed information about the connected equipment, then you can view it by going to "Device Manager".

Some information about the parameters of the computer, which cannot be viewed using the tools described above, can be retrieved by entering a special command into « Command line» .

  1. Click again "Start" and go to item "All programs".
  2. In the list that opens, enter the directory "Standard".
  3. Find the item there "Command line" and click on it PKM... In the list that opens, select the activation option on behalf of the administrator.
  4. IN Command line enter expression:

    Press the button Enter.

  5. After that, wait for a while until Command line the system information is loaded.
  6. Data loaded in Command line, in many respects overlap with the parameters that were displayed in the properties of the PC, but in addition, you can see the following information:
    • OS installation date and time of its last boot;
    • The path to the system folder;
    • Current time zone;
    • System language and keyboard layouts;
    • The directory where the swap file is located;
    • List of installed updates.

You can find out information about computer parameters in Windows 7 both by using third-party specialized programs and through the OS interface. The first option will allow you to get more information, and besides, it is more convenient, since almost all data is available in one window by going to tabs or sections. But at the same time, in most cases, the data that can be seen using system tools is enough to solve many of the tasks. In this case, you do not need to install any third-party software that will additionally load the system.

Knowing the characteristics of your computer is essential in order to install new hardware and run applications or games. For example, some of them require a 64-bit OS or recommend a certain amount random access memory for normal operation. Information on the system can be obtained both by means of the OS, and using third-party programs or online services.

Windows 7 features... For information about the system, open "Start", right-click on "Computer" and select "Properties". Once on the main computer information page, you can familiarize yourself with the bitness of your OS, the type of processor, the amount of memory, and also the version of your Windows. More information about your computer can be obtained by clicking on "Performance Counters and Tools" and then on "Display ... Details of Computer Performance." Service Windows programs ... Open Start, select Accessories, then System Tools, and launch System Information. The main specifications of your computer will be displayed on the right side of the screen. As you can see from the article, there are many ways to find out the characteristics of your computer. It all depends on how detailed the analysis you need and in what form. Based on this, choose the option at your discretion.

Sometimes there is an urgent need to find out the characteristics of your computer. For example, in order to update drivers, upgrade some parts of the system unit, or just brag to peers, and in many cases you just need to find out the labeling of one or another component of the system. There are only two ways to do this: and read the markings or check them using software.

The first method, although simple, but in most cases may not be available due to violation of warranty obligations (if the computer is under warranty). Therefore, let's take a closer look at the second method, how to find out the characteristics of your computer using programs, both built-in tools of the operating system, and additional specialized software.

We look at the characteristics of the computer by means of the operating system

1. In order to find out the three main parameters of the system, just go to the "My Computer" tab in the "Start" menu. To do this, you need to move the cursor over it and right-click, in the list that opens, select "Properties".

You can also do this in another way: from the "Control Panel" tab, select "System". In the window that opens below, you can view the same parameters.

2. Find out what hardware is installed on the computer, but without detailed characteristics it is possible through the "Device Manager".

To start it, you can simply type the key combination "Win + Pause". In Windows 7, in the window that opens, you will need to select the "Device Manager" tab. Now we can see what devices are installed on your computer and their names, for example, the type of processor and its frequency, video card, sound card, network adapters, disks, etc .. Device Manager in XP can be launched through the key combination "Win + Pause", then at the top you need to click on the "Hardware" tab, and already in it, start "Device Manager".

3. This method is to use the integrated System Information software. To start it, click on the "All Programs" drop-down list in the "Start" menu, then "Standard", in it open the "Service" tab and run the "System Information" utility there. You can also do this faster by pressing the Win + R key combination. A program launch window will open. In the "Open" line, type "msinfo32.exe". This is the same utility, only run through the console.

With this built-in software, you can get basic information about the system and components. But this utility is rather inconvenient due to the intricacy of branches of transitions along the tree. This software can be used in the absence of another, easier to understand and read.

4. You can also view system characteristics through the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. This utility is mainly used for testing both video and audio cards. The utility window displays general information about the system and, more specifically, about the video card.

5. You can find out the characteristics of your computer from the BIOS. To do this, when booting the computer, press the F1, F2, Del or Esc key. It all depends on the version of the BIOS itself. Further some knowledge of English is required.

Programs for viewing computer characteristics

For more detailed diagnostics of the system with performance, you can use special programs... For example, the AIDA64, ASTRA32, PC-Wizard programs are excellent software both for diagnostics and for testing all components separately.

First, let's say that the AIDA64 (formerly Everest) application belongs to the paid category. However, there is an opportunity to take advantage of the free 30-day period provided by the developers so that the user can get acquainted with the program's features. This is quite enough for us. In our case, we will use the AIDA64 Extreme Edition to get acquainted with the basic parameters of the computer. There is, of course, also a business version of this application, but the Extreme version is enough for our purposes. This application must be downloaded from the developer's website (www.aida64.com) and installed on your computer.

AIDA is very simple and easy to use. The main window of the application is divided into two parts: the left side shows the tree of the main computer subsystems, and the right side displays detailed information selected in the left side of the subsystem. To view the summary information on a computer, just open the "Computer" section, and then select the "Summary information" subsection.

Selecting this subsection will allow you to find out all the characteristics of your computer: the type of computer, data on the installed operating environment, information about the motherboard, available partitions, network, peripheral devices, and so on.

View data central processing unit computer can be done by selecting the subsection "CPU" in the root section "System board". On the right side of the application, the parameters of all processors installed on the PC will be displayed. This data will inform you about the type of processor installed, its model, clock speed, supported instructions, cache of different levels. Here you can also find information about the loading of the microprocessor cores. If you need more detailed information about the functions supported by the system microprocessor, then feel free to click the "CPUID" subsection.

If you move a little further in your choice and select the "Motherboard" section, then the main application window will display detailed information on the motherboard. For a desktop PC, AIDA64 will display the properties of the board with its name, the properties of the system bus with its real and effective frequencies. The data on the properties of the memory bus with its width, frequencies, throughput... Equally important Technical information by physical parameters of the board: supported CPU socket, installed slots for expansion cards, the number of slots for RAM brackets, as well as the type of brackets themselves and the type of supported memory. In the same section, the application will show data about the form factor of the motherboard, its physical dimensions and the chipset.

Selecting the "Memory" subsection in the "Motherboard" section will show the summary information about the computer's RAM. Here you can find out information about the operational and virtual memory: about how much it has already been spent and how much for this moment available for use by the system and applications. Also, this section demonstrates the path to the system swap file.

You can easily find out about the properties of the installed RAM modules by clicking on the "SPD" subsection. This action will allow the application to show all memory modules installed on the PC, which are displayed in the upper part of the main window area. Selecting one of the displayed modules will allow you to get the data that is shown in the lower part of the main area of the program window. By default, when you go to the "SPD" subsection, this part displays the data of the first module displayed in the list. Here you can find such data of module properties: its type, the amount of memory provided to it, the type of this memory, its speed. Also, the width and voltage of the module, timing characteristics and functions supported by it are displayed here.

Video card

In order to view data on the characteristics of the video adapter, you must go to the root section "Display". Among its subsections you need to find "Graphics Processor". Selecting this subsection will allow you to display data on the video adapter installed on the PC in the main area of the program. Among them are information about the type of video chip, the version of its BIOS, about the memory of the graphics card (size, frequency, type), some characteristics of the graphics processor (frequency, technical process).

The Monitor sub-section of the same root section will allow the user to familiarize himself with the basic characteristics of the system monitor. Among them are the model, resolution, aspect ratio, vertical and horizontal scanning.

AIDA64 allows you to get a wide range of information about your computer's hard drives. To view information about the HDD, click the subsection "Storage Windows data"Of the root section" Data storage ". In the upper part of the main area of the application window, a list of all devices related to data storage will be displayed. Hard disks will be displayed first, and information about the characteristics of the hard disk, indicated as the first in the list of devices, will be displayed in the lower part of the main window area. Among the most useful characteristics: hard form factor, spindle rotation speed, read / write speed, and so on.

Sensor data

It is necessary not only to be able to view data about the system, but also to analyze the current information supplied about the system by its sensors. Data on sensors can be found by going to the "Sensors" subsection of the "Computer" section in the general subsystem tree.

The main sensor information window displays data on the temperature of the microprocessor, as well as its cores. The "CPU" designation shows the temperature data of the processor under its cover. Traditionally, this indicator is lower than the temperature indicators of the processor cores, displayed as: "CPU1", "CPU2". This is due to the fact that the cover is in direct contact with the heatsink of the heat sink unit. Do not be intimidated by the high parameters of the "AUX" indicator, since it means practically nothing. If its values never change, then it is not used by the system. The GPU Diode sensor displays the temperature on the GPU.

Using the ASTRA32 program, you can also find out the characteristics of your computer. Like the previous program, ASTRA32 is paid, but the demo version is enough for us. Its interface is similar to AIDA64, it is also so simple and straightforward. Download the program from the official website: www.astra32.com and install it. By clicking on the link, you will see two versions - one for a regular installation, and the other is portable, that is, it does not need to be installed. I will be using the second version of the program.

I run the astra32.exe program file as administrator.

In the window that opens, all information about my computer is immediately displayed (the "General Information" tab), namely:

  • what processor is installed, its operating frequency, cache levels;
  • brief data on the motherboard;
  • information about RAM;
  • what disks are installed and their size;
  • data about the video card and sound card;
  • information about the operating system, etc.

We can stop at this, but for those who wish to study in detail the components of their computer, you can select the appropriate section in the left column and study the data displayed in the right column.

For example, you need to find out in more detail information about the processor: what Socket it has, how many cores, what power consumption, size, etc. Go to the "Processor" tab and then "CPU". In the Right window, we look at detailed information about the processor.

Finally we got to free programs... PC-Wizard is one of the best utilities for characterizing, configuring and testing a computer. It can be downloaded by following the link - http://www.cpuid.com.

The program interface is similar to the previously reviewed utilities. The only difference is that icons are displayed in the right column instead of boring lists, and there are also tips for almost every action.
