Recently on the Internet I saw a kit for growing crystals at home "Alchemist" and decided to buy it for my son. After reading the reviews. The son is ten years old, he is in the fifth grade and has just started studying chemistry. He is a very inquisitive child and I was sure that he would definitely like such a scientific experiment and arouse even greater interest in his studies. When I showed the box with the set to my son and told me what it was, he was very happy and wanted to start the process as soon as possible.
In my opinion, this set is much more useful and interesting than many modern toys and the price is ten times lower. There was no doubt after reading the positive reviews, and the store manager said that crystal growing has been in great demand lately. Now I'll tell you more about this set and what we ended up with.
What is a crystal growing kit
The set was packed in a colored cardboard box. The color of the crystal was indicated on the box, which will turn out in the end, when I made the order I chose red, it seemed to me the brightest, but the color can be changed using ordinary food dyes.
The box contained:
- A pouch of powder that looks like salt mixed with grains of dye. This is the reagent from which the crystal is formed;
- A plastic container with a lid in which the crystal will grow;
- A pebble that will serve as the basis for a crystal;
- A spoon with which you need to stir the solution;
- Detailed step by step instructions.
How to grow a crystal
My son and I unpacked the box, laid everything on the table and got down to business. I really liked that the kit contains absolutely everything that is necessary for the experiment, so you can feel like in a real laboratory. We acted as written in the instructions. I want to note that the instruction itself is very detailed, and is written in understandable language, so my son, perhaps, could have done it alone, but nevertheless I decided to look after him, and besides, I myself was terribly interested.
So, first of all, we poured the reagent powder into a special container, then added hot water there to the horizontal mark on the wall and began to stir the solution until all the grains disappeared.
Then we washed the pebble with clean water (this is done so that the crystal grows transparent) and carefully lowered it with tweezers to the bottom of the container.
After that, the container was tightly closed with a lid and placed in a wall cabinet in the kitchen. In general, you need to think about the place for the container in advance, because it will stand there for a rather long time while the crystal grows. At this time, the container must not be moved or even touched, so as not to harm the crystal, because even vibration from loud music or slamming the door can interfere with its formation. It will also be better if the place is dark and cool, because the slower the water evaporates from the container, the more the crystal can grow.
After a day, we, in accordance with the instructions, very carefully, trying not to disturb the container, removed the lid so that the water began to evaporate. Then we saw that our crystal appeared on the pebble.
The process began, and now we only had to wait.
Our crystal grew for about ten days. All this time, the son was only thinking about the coveted container. In the morning, the first thing he did was run into the kitchen, climb on a stool, open the cabinet door and look at his crystal. After school, the same story repeated itself. And the crystal, although slowly, grew up, forming an interesting pattern. To get a better look at it, a magnifying glass came in handy.
When the top of the crystal appeared above the water, we carefully took it out of the container with tweezers and air dried. Our crystal turned out to be about 7 centimeters in height, beautiful, transparent and very graceful, you can watch the play of light on its edges for hours. The color, however, turned out to be a little paler than on the box, but this does not spoil the crystal. The main thing is that the resulting crystal is unique and unrepeatable, it is not exactly the same, and no one will have it.
The dried crystal is quite durable and can be stored for a long time as a memory of an experiment or as a decorative element for an interior. The main thing is to protect the crystal from contact with water.
Precautions
- The materials in the kit are non-toxic and crystal growth is a safe process if the instructions are followed. In this case, it is better not to leave children unattended and remember some precautions:
- Care should be taken to ensure that the child handles hot water gently.
- Do not touch the reagent with your hands. In case of contact with the skin or eyes, rinse the area thoroughly with running water.
- If you accidentally swallow a powder or solution from it, consult a doctor.
My impressions
Growing a crystal is a very exciting and educational activity that captures both children and their parents. A set for growing crystals at home is much cheaper than most modern toys, but at the same time it brings much more benefit, and also attracts the child's attention for a long time and gives him true joy. Such a visual experience will be remembered for a long time by the little scientist and will increase his craving for knowledge.

For any craft you need crystals and gemstones of different grades, you can buy something in the store, something from a mammon merchant in the week of victory of seven seals, we get something by breaking various things into crystals.
Gear (or guns), it makes sense to break mainly only D grade, and even then only the one that is sold in stores for adena, rare items (such as parts or top D plate set to break it is simply a pity), and everything above D grade and even more so.
No, of course I broke both C and B and even A things (when crystals are very urgently needed - this is at the start of the server, when you simply cannot get them in other ways), and when the server is already developed, I even prefer to do it differently: when they ask me to break some thing of B and A grade (mainly avadon and teeth of heavy and light body, as well as DK heavy and light), I just give people the amount of crystals that they get from breaking this thing, and I keep the little thing for myself, because in any case there will be people to whom we will subsequently sell this little thing, and much more expensive than it would be in the form of crystals. Well, we will talk about all this in more detail below:
With D-grade crystals, everything is simple - we go to the weapons store in Giran, buy a D-gun and break it into crystals. I have never calculated the cost of crystals received with this method, and you only need to calculate it on x1 servers, if your server's rates are higher, then there is no point in calculating these pennies. The resulting D crystals sell for about 740 adena (plus / minus, depending on the specific prices prevailing on the server).
With C crystals, everything is also simple - everything is based on the fact that low C duals can be soldered from D swords, bought all in the same weapons store. Therefore, we buy the required number of D one-handed swords (I prefer to dualize Elven Sword * Elven Sword) and go to the forge of Giran to Pushkin. He has dual C cores and immediately break them into C crystals. The received C krises sell for about 3.400 adena (plus / minus, depends on the specific prices prevailing on the server).
With B crystals it is already more difficult - there are three main ways of obtaining:
1. Breaking a B thing into crystals is a barbaric way, I personally feel sorry for it, but sometimes I have to do this too. The only thing I will note is that never break B cannons (well, except for low B muzzles), since any B cannon is quite rare due to the difficulties with obtaining recipes for its crafting.
2. If the server is sufficiently developed and the server has dual craft stamps. We buy two C swords in the Luxor store in Giran for D and C crystals (I take the Sword of Deluzhn), buy a dual craft stamp as cheap as possible (why is it cheaper? Yes, because the cost of the B crystals received will directly depend on the price of the craft stamp), we go to the blacksmith in Oren and dualim Bulki using a craft stamp. We break and use crystals for our needs. Sell B crystals from 20k to 50k (also depends on the server).
3. If the server has just opened and there are no crafting stamps, then in the week of the victory of seven seals, you can exchange C grade swords from the blacksmith of mammon, which are played in Aden without using a dual craft stamp, but with the help of SOPs (). We buy the same Sword of Nightmare in Luxor Giran and go to the kats to look for the blacksmith of Mammon, we exchange (for free) the Sword of Nightmare from him:

With crystals of A and N grade, it is still worse than with the rest. As you understand, crafted dulks here no longer break because of their high cost, therefore, we either break cheaper gear (DK light or heavy bodies, Tallum light bodies) or buy crystals in the week of victory of seven seals from the mammon merchant for an adena item. Purchase price: A crystal - 15k AA, N crystal - 25k AA. But here it is easier because the A and B cannons are actively sharpening, which means they break from time to time, so you can put a spell to buy A and B crystals, sometimes you can even buy them very cheaply.
These gems can be bought in the store, keep in mind that they are not in every city, B gems are sold in Giran, Rune, Suga and Goddard.
A and S gemstones are bought from the mammon merchant in the week of victory of seven seals for ancient adena, the price of A gem is 30k AA, S gemstone is 100k AA.
That's basically all I wanted to tell you about crystals and gems. I do not deliberately write the selling prices of A and S kris and gems, since they are tied to prices for ancient adena, and the price for AA differs significantly on different servers.

Before starting your entertaining exploration, read carefully the instructions for using all the components of the selected set. The standard work plan is as follows:
- Place the crystallization base in a growing container.
- Fill in hot water with the appropriate reagent.
- Now powder can be added to the resulting solution for crystallization. It should be poured so much that undissolved grains remain. As soon as the active substance has ceased to dissolve, you have a saturated solution. In this case, you should have a few grains of the reagent.
- Then, pour the solution into a growing container so that the liquid completely hides the base. In this case, the sediment should remain in the original container.
- Next, drop the remaining reagent grains onto the crystallization bases. These are the "seeds" from which your "magic" crystals will grow.
If, when pouring the solution, individual crystals surfaced on its surface, remove them immediately. Now all that remains is to put the container in a safe place and leave it for a while. Cover the top with a piece of paper if the kit does not have a cover.
Crystal growth will begin almost immediately. Remember to keep an eye on the container. It is necessary to drain the solution as soon as one of the crystals appears on the surface. After that, you need to pull them all out and dry them for a day.
What to do with the grown crystal?
If you follow the instructions, the crystal will be beautiful and interesting. It can be simply kept as a keepsake or used in some kind of craft. Crystallization on a figured base looks especially interesting. The finished product does not need additional decor and in itself looks interesting and unusual.
Safety in crystallization experiments
The instructions for the crystal growing kit usually say that children under 14 lei should be supervised to conduct the experiment. Follow this simple rule, and the experience will only bring you positive emotions.
The reagents included in the kit are safe. But, of course, they cannot be tasted, and if they come into contact with the skin, they should be washed off immediately with water. Ready-made crystals are also completely safe, they are strong enough, you can take them in your hands. Just try to avoid contact with water - liquid can ruin the result of your experience.

Now let's calculate how much it costs to grow a crystal at home. The cost of small sets designed for growing small elements is usually 150-200 rubles.
