All instructions are written based on Android 6.0.1. Due to the variety of versions of this OS, some functions or interface elements on your gadget may differ or be missing. But general principles for most Android devices are about the same.

Do Not Disturb Mode

With this mode, you can quickly switch between different profiles for receiving notifications. The first one is called "Complete Silence", it is a completely silent profile. The second - "Only alarm clock" - as the name implies, skips only alarm clock signals. And within the third profile - "Important only" - you will hear both alarm sounds and notifications, but only from selected contacts and programs.

You can switch between sound profiles using special buttons on the notification panel. Depending on the Android version the panel contains either all three buttons with the names of the profiles, or one of them, and the rest appear after clicking on the first one.

A link should be displayed next to the profile buttons to quickly navigate to the settings. By clicking on it, you can select contacts and other parameters for the "Important only" mode. In addition, in the settings, you can set rules (start and end times, days of the week, etc.), according to which the system will switch profiles automatically.

Thus, the "Do not disturb" mode allows you to instantly adapt your smartphone to the current circumstances. For example, if you have an important meeting, you pull down the notification panel, turn on the "Complete silence" mode and calmly participate in the process. And if you have configured the rules, the device itself will turn off notifications during business hours, and, on the contrary, will turn on notifications during free hours.

Lock screen notifications feature

With this feature, you can customize how notifications appear on the lock screen. It is usually found in the system settings section related to notifications.

The system offers a choice between three modes: "Show notifications in full", "Do not show notifications" and "Hide personal information". The names of the first two options speak for themselves. The latter means that the content of received messages will not be displayed on the locked screen. Outsiders will only see an inscription like "new notification" and that's it.

Turn off notifications on the lock screen or hide their personal information if you are afraid that someone else might read your correspondence.

Customized notification settings

The settings listed above are global, that is, they affect notifications from all installed programs.

But you can also manage the notifications of each program separately. To do this, you need to open system settings and go to the notifications section. There should be an item "Application notifications" or with a similar name. By clicking on it, you will see a list of all installed programs. By choosing any of them, you can customize its notifications.

The system allows you to block all notifications of the selected application, designate it as important, hide personal information and allow it to briefly display pop-up notifications on top of other programs for a moment.

As you can see, using individual settings, you can, for example, block notifications from only the most annoying programs or remove the contents of the correspondence in the selected messenger from the locked screen.

Rapid response

Etiquette Email requires a response to business correspondence within 24 hours. But sometimes it happens that you are very much looking forward to an important letter. In order to find out about it immediately, you can configure the message check every minute (Fig.5.6):

Fig. 5.6. Configure Windows Mail to check messages every minute.

But this works if the mail program on the local computer is configured to read the correspondence. If the web interface is used, then the procedure for checking new letters comes down to visiting the site, going through authorization, etc.

Internet pager Mail.Ru Agent (http://agent.mail.ru/), in addition to being a convenient tool for exchanging messages, also provides an opportunity to instantly learn about the arrival of correspondence to the Mail.Ru mailbox. Immediately after receiving a message, a message is displayed in the system tray with its subject and the addressee's name (Fig.5.7):

Fig. 5.7. Message about the receipt of the letter.

Next, you need to go to your email program or go to the website to read the message. Other mail services, such as Yandex.Mail (http://mail.yandex.ru/), also provide a similar service. The Ya.Online program (http://online.yandex.ru/) will notify you of the receipt of letters to account Yandex mail.

You are sending a letter to your colleague. A day or two passes, but there is no answer. Only after the call is it possible to find out that he did not receive the letter at all due to a failure on the corporate server. Lost two days.

How to make sure that you always know if your addressee has received a message? To do this, when forming a letter, it is enough to request a read notification (Fig.5.8):

Fig. 5.8.

Now the addressee, upon receiving your letter, will open a dialog box offering to send a read receipt (Fig. 5.9):

Fig. 5.9. Request a read receipt.

If he clicks on the "Yes" button, then a letter will be automatically generated, in which it will be reported that the letter has been delivered (Fig. 5.10):

Fig. 5.10. An automatically generated read receipt letter.

Note that this whole procedure is called a read receipt, not a delivery receipt. If, for example, you sent a letter to the addressee, it successfully arrived in his mailbox, but the addressee has not yet entered it and opened this very letter, the notification will not be sent. It will also not be sent if you select the "No" button in the dialog box. Delivery Notification - the so-called "Autoresponder" function, is available on many mail services. But it does not make much sense, since the delivered message may not be read due, for example, to blocking the antispam filter.

If you have to work with numerous correspondence, and all letters are important enough, then it is better to enable the notification request for all sent messages in the mail settings (Fig.5.11):

Fig. 5.11. General settings Windows Mail notifications.

Processing of notifications is also set here. By default, that same dialog box will appear. If you select the "Always send read receipts" option, an automatic response will be sent for all receipt messages. This is undesirable, because in this case spam robots will be glad to know that your e-mail is working.

If you can respond to an email promptly - literally within a few minutes - then you don't need to send a read receipt. Better to write the answer right away.

A DSN confirms delivery of an email message to the recipient's mailbox, but does not guarantee that it has been viewed or read. A read receipt confirms the opening of a sent message.

In Outlook, the recipient of the message can refuse to send read receipts. There are other scenarios in which read receipts are not sent, for example, if the recipient's email program does not support read receipts. There is no way to force the recipient to send a read receipt.

Request read and delivery receipts for all sent messages

Open the original message sent with a delivery request or read receipt. This message is usually found in the " Sent ".

In the tab message in a group Show press the button Tracking.

Gmail at work or school. Read confirmation is not supported for gmail.com accounts.

To find out when an email you sent was opened, you can ask for a read confirmation. You will receive a read confirmation as a separate email, which will indicate the date and time when your message was opened.

How to request a read confirmation

Important! All read confirmations go to your Inbox. The recipient of your message may need to confirm sending a read confirmation before you receive a message.

How to send a read confirmation

If you receive a message for which the sender has requested read confirmation, and users in your organization must first approve the read confirmation, do the following:

  1. Open Gmail on your computer.
  2. Check your mail as usual.
  3. If you see that the sender has requested a read confirmation, choose the appropriate action:
    • To send confirmation immediately, click Send notifications.
    • To send confirmation later, click Not now... You will be prompted to do this the next time you open the message.

Advice. If the sender asks for a read confirmation, but you did not see the corresponding message, this means that the confirmation was sent automatically.

What to do if confirmation does not come

Read confirmations are supported by most email systems, but you will not receive them in the following situations:

  • You post using a mailing list or group alias.
  • Your administrator has only allowed confirmation to be sent to people in your organization or to certain people outside of your organization.
  • The recipient uses an email program that does not sync in real time (for example, a POP client that syncs only on demand, or a G Suite Sync client).
  • The recipient sends a read confirmation using an IMAP-based e-mail client that does not automatically send such messages.

Confirmations are not a guarantee of delivery

Even if you received a read confirmation, this does not always mean that the addressee actually read your message. How confirmations work depends on the recipient's mail system.

For example, you might receive a read confirmation if an IMAP email client marks your message as read without opening it. Some mail systems for mobile devices non-IMAP protocols may not send read receipts at all.

A panel with useful functions is located at the bottom of the new mail window. Click on the desired icon to enable the function.

Mark email as important

Click to mark the email as important. It will be marked with an exclamation mark in the recipient's mailbox -.

Request to read the letter

Even after reading the letter, the recipient may not acknowledge receipt. Then the notification will not come.

If you saw such a message, you were asked to confirm receipt of the letter. Click "Confirm Read" and the sender will receive an email notification.

No response reminder

Click to set a reminder for not responding. If the recipient does not answer the letter after the selected period of time, you will receive a letter with the subject “Reminder. You have not received an answer to your letter. "

Delayed dispatch

Click to select the time for sending the letter. Set the date and time by clicking on the labels in the pop-up window.
