Smartphones from the Chinese brand “Oukitel” are infrequent guests on the domestic market of mobile gadgets. Over the past couple of years, the company has released three K6000 series phones, distinguished primarily by their capacious 6080 mAh batteries. Notable and the most practical is the latest model in the series - Oukitel K6000 Plus (Android 7.0/MTK6750T). Reviews about it may be mixed, but the gadget deserves attention and careful consideration.

In general, such a low demand for Oukitel products is due to a pricing policy that is not entirely competent, or rather, unacceptable for Russian realities. Those who prefer devices in the mid-price segment (more than 15 thousand rubles) consider the brand’s models to be too modest and mediocre for themselves, and fans of budget models (less than 10 thousand rubles) do not want to spend an extra couple of thousand of their hard-earned money on something like and unnecessary “tricks” that you can easily do without. Therefore, the Oukitel K6000 Plus smartphone is stuck at a crossroads with a price tag of 11 thousand rubles, even after the “filling” was significantly improved compared to previous generations. Despite this, the device, although not as successful as its competitors, is still selling, and we will try to figure out why.

So, the hero of today's review is the Oukitel K6000 Plus smartphone. User reviews, characteristics of the gadget, as well as its advantages and disadvantages will be discussed in our article.

Equipment

The device is supplied in a bright orange box made of thick cardboard, specific to Oukitel. The design is sparse: the brand logo is depicted on the front and ends, and on the back there is a brief specification that lists the most notable characteristics of the Oukitel K6000 Plus. Dealer surroundings in the form of stickers, barcodes and labels can be seen around the entire perimeter of the box.

Scope of delivery:

  • phone Oukitel K6000 Plus;
  • power adapter;
  • micro USB cable;
  • silicone case;
  • OTG cable;
  • card tray clip;
  • manual;
  • warranty obligations.

Relatively good equipment for a budget model. Judging by the reviews from owners about the Oukitel K6000 Plus, they were especially pleased to have the OTG cable and case they really needed. It’s good that the manufacturer did not include the headset in the kit, because in this price segment it is simply not needed. Headphones “for show” significantly affect the cost of the entire gadget, but by and large they are of no use, so it is much more practical to shift the purchase of a headset onto the shoulders of consumers - they themselves will choose what they need.

Appearance

Oukitel K6000 Plus has a classic design - a candy bar with a touch screen. Looking at the heap of other mobile gadgets, it’s impossible to call a smartphone light and thin. The device has quite impressive dimensions - 77 x 155 x 9.5 mm and weighs 208 grams. Such unsightliness is the price to pay for a capacious, as well as massive, battery.

Despite its size, in customer reviews of the Oukitel K6000 Plus there are practically no negative comments regarding ergonomics: the device fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and can be operated with one hand with proper comfort. Yes, fragile female hands will have a hard time with such a mass, but only while watching videos or games, and during conversations that last no more than ten minutes, the impressiveness of the device is not felt.

The design of the gadget is dominated mainly by aluminum alloy, and plastic inserts can be seen at the top and bottom of the cover, where the antennas are located. The case is pleasantly cool in the hand and inspires confidence, so it’s hard to call the Oukitel K6000 Plus a budget model.

Interfaces

On the front panel at the top there is the usual set: a front camera eye, an LED event indicator and a light sensor. The indicator is barely noticeable, and in bright daylight it is practically invisible. By the way, the events for which he will be responsible can be selected in the settings.

The lower part of the front panel is occupied by a physical Home key, which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner. On the sides are touch buttons"Back" and "Context menu". On this occasion, owners leave mixed reviews about the Oukitel K6000 Plus phone, because in previous generations this key was not there, but the usual touch buttons. Those who used Samsung, Homtom or other similar gadgets with the same physical controls did not experience any problems with the innovation, while others considered this solution unnecessary and not meeting expectations.

Also, many owners in their reviews of the Oukitel K6000 Plus smartphone complained about the too dim backlight of the touch keys: even in a dark room it is very difficult to see the outlines, and you have to poke your fingers at random.

I'm glad that the designers added functionality to the fingerprint scanner. The sensor now supports gesture support: for example, with a single tap, you can pause the track being played or play the selected one. As for the operation of the scanner itself, there are no serious questions about it. Judging by the reviews of the Oukitel K6000 Plus, users rate the recognition accuracy at 9 out of 10 points, which is more than acceptable for a device in this price category.

In the upper rear part of the device you can see the peephole of the main camera (16 megapixels) and a duplicated LED flash. There is nothing below, just the brand logo and the address of the Internet resource.

On the right side there is a power button and a volume rocker. The latter, judging by the reviews of the Oukitel K6000 Plus, is a little loose - unpleasant, but not critical. The left side is occupied by a hybrid interface for two nano-SIM cards (or one SD and SIM card).

At the top there is a standard 3.5 mm minijack audio output. The bottom end is reserved for a micro-USB output, and on either side there are two decorative grilles with perforations: behind one is a microphone, and behind the other is an external speaker. By the way, users in their reviews of the Oukitel K6000 Plus have repeatedly complained about ill-conceived perforation. On the one hand, yes, this adds attractiveness to the gadget, but on the other hand, the holes become clogged, and to get “pocket” dirt out of them, you need to arm yourself with a needle or thin tweezers, that is, simply shaking the phone will not help here.

Assembly

As for the assembly, users do not have any serious complaints about the smartphone: nothing creaks, does not play (except for the volume rocker) and does not crunch. All the parts fit together, so there are no gaps either.

The device comes in two variable colors: a light panel - a golden back cover, and a black panel - a gray cover. Judging by the reviews of Oukitel K6000 Plus, the latest solution looks noticeably prettier and more solid. But looking at the design part as a whole, we can say that this is a typical representative of the budget segment, of which there are hundreds on store shelves.

Screen

The device has a good IPS matrix with a high screen resolution (Full HD) and good angular viewing. Oukitel K6000 Plus has a 5.5-inch display, where the 1920 by 1080 px layout looks quite acceptable. The pixel density of 401 ppi allows you to work on the device with proper comfort, but you won’t be able to see individual pixels even if you really want to.

The display itself is protected by a 2.5D Asahi Glass Dragontrail glass panel. In addition, a factory film is additionally pasted onto the device. although mediocre, it is available both on film and on glass, and it does not interfere with the view in any way. Oukitel K6000 Plus supports OGS technology, so between protective screen and the display does not have any air gaps.

Matrix features

The maximum and minimum brightness levels of the matrix are at an average level. The first parameter allows you to work more or less tolerably in direct sunlight, and the second slightly dazzles your eyes in a dark room, so you shouldn’t sin with auto-adjustment - it actually is, and automation has nothing to do with it. The contrast fluctuates around 560 units with average brightness, which is quite acceptable for this price category.

As for viewing angles, they are maximum for an IPS matrix, so you can watch a video or look through a gallery of images in the company of one or two like-minded people. The only thing worth noting is that even with a slight change in angle, the picture looks a little dim, that is, a certain percentage of brightness is lost.

Generally speaking, the factory calibration of the matrix was done frankly poorly, and it’s better to redo it all special utilities(administrator rights are required), so the screen characteristics cannot be named strong point smartphone.

Performance

The set of chipsets, although budgetary, is quite modern in the Oukitel K6000 Plus: 4 GB RAM, Mediatek MT6750T series processor with eight Cortex-A53 cores, Mali-T860 video accelerator and 64 GB internal storage.

As a rule, the budget segment of gadgets comes with 2 GB of RAM, so here we have a clear advantage over competing analogues. During operation, the user has access to a little more than 2 GB out of 4, and this is an excellent indicator, so there are simply no problems with a lack of RAM.

Oukitel K6000 Plus has 64Gb internal memory, which is absolutely enough for ordinary user needs. But even if this volume turns out to be small, it can be expanded by installing an external SD card, up to 256 GB.

Tests

The results in benchmarks are average when comparing the performance of a smartphone with a similar budget brother. With such an amount of RAM, some kind of Snapdragon of the 800th series would clearly be useful, but then the price would definitely exceed 15 thousand rubles.

Here we have a completely stable and acceptable frame rate in most modern games, but in serious and “heavy” applications we have to reset the graphics settings to medium or even minimum values. Otherwise, friezes and numerous lags appear.

As for the interface, everything is perfect here: applications open quickly, tables and icons respond smoothly, and there are no slowdowns when scrolling. There are also no problems with multimedia and web surfing: everything plays, whistles and puffs as the developer intended. In addition, even under heavy load on the chipsets, the smartphone body does not heat up, which is good news.

Platform

Oukitel K6000 Plus runs on Android 7.0. Reviews about the platform are mixed, because the system is still crude, and in some places it is clumsily localized, so you shouldn’t be surprised to see foreign speech wormed into the Russian masses.

Stock, even the newest firmware, alas, does not solve the problem, but on specialized resources you can find amateur versions, which in terms of content are no worse than the official ones, but with normal Russification.

Users in their reviews expressed special gratitude to the manufacturer for the “clean” operating system. A good half of budget gadgets are cluttered with advertising and sponsored applications, unlike our hero, where there are no heaps of useless pre-installed programs.

Cameras

The smartphone has two cameras. There is no point in considering the 8 megapixel front one, because it can be said that it doesn’t exist: the modest characteristics of the matrix allow you to make only a high-quality avatar, and talk with grief on a video messenger and that’s all.

The main camera received an OmniVision 16880 series matrix with a resolution of 16 megapixels. Here we have autofocus, a duplicated LED flash and an f2/0 lens. Diversity functionality The control interface does not shine - everything is according to the standard and without any original “tricks”.

The rear camera does a good job of shooting landscapes during the day. Of course, there are some problems, such as unstable focusing and loss of sharpness at the edges of the image, but overall the output picture is quite decent.

Features of shooting

The camera does not take close-ups well, which is due to the minimum focusing distance, which is significantly longer here compared to other budget analogues. Therefore, photographing any objects close up is a hassle. At this point, one could close one’s eyes if it weren’t for the many negative reviews from book lovers who need a gadget for taking pictures of books, notes, instructions and other literature.

The quality of pictures in the dark leaves much to be desired, but this is a problem for the entire budget segment, so it’s difficult to classify this part as an obvious disadvantage. The image comes out with a lot of noise, and to get rid of it, you need to turn up the noise reduction to the maximum, and this, in turn, results in a loss of detail - in general, everything is bad.

Autonomous operation

A clear advantage of the device is its capacity battery 6080 mAh, in fact, this is where the name of the Oukitel line of gadgets comes from. The production of lithium-polymer batteries for the brand is carried out by a fairly well-known company from the Middle Kingdom - SCUD Battery Co., Ltd, so there is no need to worry about the quality.

A completely appropriate addition to such a capacious battery was the Pump Express Plus fast charging technology from Mediatek. With its help, a smartphone is charged to 100% from zero in a little less than two hours, while with a conventional charger you will have to wait at least an hour more.

Benchmarks

The test results are encouraging: the device was far ahead, leaving even the venerable premium models of famous brands in the rear. So, everything is fine with the smartphone’s autonomy, even despite the power-hungry Android platform.

Specifically, in mixed mode of use (calls, SMS, Internet, 50% screen brightness) the battery lasts for three days. Watching high-definition videos at 75% brightness will drain the battery in 15 hours. With the maximum possible load and everything turned on at 100% screen brightness, the device will last about 6-7 hours.

The results are excellent. A rather mediocre set of chipsets with moderate power consumption also played a significant role here. So the gadget can rightfully be called a long-lived smartphone. Finding such a representative in the budget segment is a great success.

Competitors

Our respondent doesn’t have many analogues. The models that are closest in terms of quality content are Ulefone Power 2 (6050 mAh) and Blackview P2 (6000 mAh).

The first one is almost identical in its technical characteristics to the K6000 Plus. But it is very difficult to recommend it for purchase, because it has even fewer owners than the Oukitel series. And this directly affects the support of gadgets, that is, you have to wait for firmware updates for years, if you wait at all, as well as warranty repair. And user reviews about the model are far from the most flattering.

But there’s nothing bad to say about the Blackview P2: the device turned out to be successful and attractive in many ways, and the only thing in which it is inferior to the K6000 Plus is the Android version. Even latest models brands come with stock firmware on Android 6.0 OS, while Oukitel has the seventh version of the platform. The manufacturer seems to promise to transfer its gadgets to the “seven”, but, as often happens with the Chinese budget segment, we are waiting, but will we wait?

To sum it up

On the market of mobile gadgets you can find smartphones that reassure their users with some unusual “tricks”, aesthetic and thoughtful design, providing unusual solutions that are really interesting to understand, and so on and so forth.

The K6000 Plus model cannot be classified as one of them. The manufacturer positions the device as a workhorse, which, alas, is not able to please the owner with all the listed advantages, and does not strive to do so. Whatever one may say, this is a budget device, and delights can be found in the premium and mid-price segment.

Essentially, only one thing is required from the K6000 Plus - long and stable operation, and the device copes with this with a bang. One of the main “claims for success” - excellent autonomy - is fully implemented and works 100%. In addition, the set of chipsets is quite enough for lightning-fast operation of the interface and launching most modern gaming applications.

The fly in the ointment here is the mediocre and poorly calibrated matrix, and perhaps the unsightly sound, but a good half of the models in the budget segment suffer from this problem, so there is no need to go through too much.

We get the following: if you want a smartphone “for the soul”, pass by, but if you need a moderately productive, long-lived gadget without pretensions to appearance with multimedia as well as enviable time battery life, then the K6000 Plus will be an excellent assistant for you.

Advantages of the model:

  • excellent autonomy;
  • good set of chipsets;
  • support for all Russian communication protocols, including LTE;
  • Android 7.0 platform.

Flaws:

  • disgusting factory calibration of the display matrix;
  • poor sound (cacophony at maximum volume).

The estimated cost of the smartphone is about 11,000 rubles.

There were many new products at the exhibitions at the beginning of 2017, but one of the most striking was the continuation of the most popular Oukitel models - K6000 Pro and K10000. New flagship Oukitel K6000 Plus has become a competitor to the headliners of other companies - the same Xiaomi RedMi Note 4. High performance, branded components, good battery life - an excellent claim to leadership, which is confirmed by thousands of pre-orders.

A year after the presentation of his hit, the manufacturer released a successor smartphone: . 6 GB RAM, latest processor and an updated screen. A worthy continuation of the hit!

Appearance

The manufacturer did not demonstrate anything new in terms of design - metal case with rounded edges, screen with small frames, solid back panel with a central location of the camera and flash. Below the screen there is one mechanical button (with a touch sensor) and two touch keys.

It's the little things that surprise you. The screen is processed in 2.5D, smoothly transitioning into the body. The aluminum body fits perfectly in the hand and is pleasant to the touch. The edges of the metal elements are beautifully milled and create the impression of a high-tech device, plastic in the body is only at the antenna exit points. It’s pleasant to hold the phone in your hands, despite its fairly heavy weight - no play, no attempts to slip out or make noise with the buttons.

The smartphone is offered in two colors - a gray body with a black front panel and a golden body with a white front panel. There are no alternatives, but along with the release of the model, a decent assortment of cases appeared.

Processor and video accelerator

The processor from MediaTek MT6750T is an “overclocked” eight-core version with a Mali T860-MP2 video coprocessor with two cores clocked at 680 MHz. The central processor has an interesting combination - 4 cores work on clock frequency 1 GHz, at 4 – 1.5 GHz. The system can control processor power over a wide range using MediaTek CorePilot technology.

Coupled with an excellent memory reserve, this chipset shows excellent results in all tests. Compared to A-brands, the K6000 Plus looks average, but in real tasks there are no hints of glitches or low FPS. It is clear that the phone’s power is excessive at the beginning of mid-2017, but the model was designed for sales over several years.

Memory

The smartphone is not deprived of memory – neither operational nor permanent. 4 GB of RAM on the current Android 7 and a set of applications and games is almost impossible to fill, which gives a good margin for growth. 64 GB are allocated for file storage, of which 58 are available for file storage, the rest will be occupied by basic applications and the system.

The system supports connecting SDHC/SDXC microSD cards, however, when connecting you will have to sacrifice one of the SIM cards - the card tray in the phone is combined, and the case itself is not collapsible.

Screen

Oukitel does not depart from the tradition of installing components from top manufacturers in its flagships. The K6000 Plus has a screen from AU Optronics (formerly Acer Display), which occupies a fifth of the global display market. Modern LTPS-TFT technology provides a clear picture with a density of 403 pixels per inch, resolution - standard FullHD, 1920 × 1080 pixels.

The outer element of the screen is tempered Asahi Glass Dragontrail with oleophobic coating, milled in 2.5D. The screen is not OGS, so if the phone falls, the glass can be repaired separately from the matrix.

Camera

Unlike budget Oukitel models, the K6000 Plus does not have interpolation on the cameras. Cameras from different manufacturers - 8MP front from Hynix and 16MP main from OmniVision. In addition to the camera - autofocus, HDR, face recognition. Maximum video resolution is 1280×720@30fps.

Works on camera and modern system– the pictures are processed with high quality, HDR really improves the picture even in uncomfortable conditions filming.

Connection

The smartphone fully supports Russian LTE, promising a nominal speed of 300 Mbit peak. Receives stations stably and does not lose connection even indoors. Matches mobile communications and Wi-Fi - it catches well in remote rooms, in addition - the chip supports modern Wi-Fi technology Direct, Wi-Fi Display (Miracast) – broadcast data and screen directly between devices, respectively.

Only the GPS module is responsible for navigation; GLONASS is not supported (initially there was information that GLONASS would be available). However, satellites are acquired quickly and there are no problems with navigation - the good performance of the chip and A-GPS as support help.

OS and features

The phone comes out of the box with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, and Oukitel makes few changes to the stock system. Several specialized widgets, modified standard icons and several proprietary applications. Applications include tools for screen recording, energy saving, backup. There were no hieroglyphs in the interface or virus software on the phone. The Smart Assistance launcher function is an additional curtain on the side of the screen, which is fully customizable by the user.

OTG in the K6000 Plus works like other declared “proprietary” (for Chinese brands and Oukitel) functions - HotKnot, Miracast, GestureLock. We should also highlight the fingerprint sensor - it has “moved” to the front of the case, under the screen.

Battery

One of the main features of a smartphone is its battery. Oukitel have not been caught cheating with the battery capacity, and the declared 6080 mAh is quite real, which has already been verified by tests. Battery manufacturer – SCUD, A-brand supplier, already used by Oukitel in other top smartphones. The power supply is enough for 10 hours of active use (videos, games) or more than 40 hours of conversation. Manufacturing technology LiPol (lithium polymer).

MediaTek PumpExpress Plus is fully tested and available – high-voltage fast charging technology, which uses its own 12V/2A charger. Regular 5/1 charges will work, but you shouldn’t count on the “100 minutes from 0 to 100%” stated by the manufacturer.

Many people are afraid of the fast charging function - but it is not for nothing that the CPU manufacturer provides it - PumpExpress is responsible for charging complex controller, which works with every rechargeable “cell” in the battery, and the actual battery life is not reduced.

Equipment

In the Oukitel K6000 Plus configuration, the manufacturer remains true to itself - nothing superfluous:

  • The now classic orange Oukitel box;
  • Telephone;
  • Silicone bumper;
  • Screen protector;
  • Charger 12V/2A;
  • MicroUSB cable;
  • OTG cable.

Back in 2015, Oukitel released their new long-lived smartphone “K6000”, which, as you might guess, had a 6000mAh battery installed. The following year, the manufacturer announced a “successor” - the K6000 Pro, with slightly improved characteristics and all with the same 6 thousand milliamp battery. And, naturally, the Chinese did not stop at this model, and now we have the third smartphone in the line - K6000 Plus, still with the same (although not the same) 6080mAh battery and still with slightly improved technical characteristics, relative to the previous model. And although I did not mention, these smartphones are considered one of the top ones from Oukitel, which can be understood by the price. I will try to reveal in the review whether the smartphone lives up to at least some expectations.

Characteristics

So, in order not to be verbose, I made a small table comparing the main characteristics of all three smartphones in this line:

As can be seen from the table, with each new model The amount of memory, both RAM and built-in, was added to smartphones, and camera modules were also updated. The remaining changes, even including the processor, are not so striking. But, in general, the K6000 Plus quite “holds the bar” for 2017 - compared to its competitors, its characteristics look normal. Although, of course, for the money they ask for it, there are smartphones from more famous manufacturers, Xiaomi, for example, who already have better characteristics, not to mention trust in the company. However, there are many smartphones and the K6000 Plus, I repeat, looks competitive.

Packaging and delivery

The Oukitel K6000 Plus comes in the most standard orange box for the company, and there are no frills - there is only the Oukitel logo on the front side and a sticker with characteristics on the back. The box of the same budget models of the “C” series is exactly the same, differing only in the materials and “finishing” inside. And if everything there looks budget-friendly, then here, in principle, it is appropriate - the smartphone is in a plastic bag in a recess and lies on some kind of “envelope” with a special tongue to make it easier to remove the smartphone. At the bottom of the envelope there are two compartments with all the equipment.

The smartphone in the same bag comes with a transparent silicone case, and in addition to paper documentation such as a warranty card, brief instructions, additional film for the screen and a paperclip for removing the slot for SIM and MicroSD cards located in the envelope, the box contains:
- USB charging at 5/7/9/12V and 2.0A
- MicroUSB cable
- OTG cable
For complete happiness, as they say, the only thing missing is some headphones. And, also fortunately, they were not here :)
The entire package is pictured below:

I mentioned the fact that the smartphone is “pulled out” of the box with a case, but there’s nothing special here - it’s the most common, Ali has similar ones for one dollar for almost any smartphone. Nevertheless, having it included in the package is nice.

Since the battery is stated to be more than 6000mAh, fast charging is indispensable. Unfortunately, it is not stated anywhere whether any special technology is used for fast charging, but only a special one is mentioned charger 12V/2A. More precisely - myACT Fast Charger. It’s the only one of its kind, since this is the only charger you can find on the Internet for this request.
UPD: apparently, Mediatek Pump Express Plus technology is used here

MicroUSB cable and OTG are the most common, both white. Like everything else, it matches the color of the smartphone.

Well, it would be a shame not to show the manual. The most interesting thing is to read safety instructions in broken Russian.

Design and detailed inspection.

First, a small digression - out of the box, the smartphone has a shipping film with the Oukitel logo on it. It is matte, so without removing it, using the smartphone is not very convenient, and not very pleasant - it is, one might say, rough and greatly spoils the colors. Underneath it is already the most ordinary film, although there are complaints about it - it is slightly smaller than the screen and is not glued perfectly. But the film is a film, and on the back... it’s the same :). But there are designations of slots, controls, there are some warnings and, most importantly, there is a sticker with IMEIs right there.

Now let's move on to the smartphone itself. In appearance and in white color, Oukitel K6000 Plus can resemble many smartphones. And, as for me, it is in white that it is most similar to some model from Meizu, for example. But all these similarities are only because of the oval Home button under the display. It is worth noting that externally it is the main difference between the K6000 Plus and last year’s models; it was not there at all.

Photo:

Personally, I like this design. The white color of the case harmonizes well with the screen. Although one cannot help but notice that along the perimeter of the display there is a black frame of not the smallest size. But it still looks quite harmonious. But you can argue about the back cover - it is “gold” in color. I don’t really understand why make a white version of the smartphone with only one back cover color - gold. I doubt that many people like this combination, while most often you can see combinations of white and gray (light gray). But there’s nothing to add other than the fact that Oukitel most often offers its other models in exactly this color. Except that the shade of this “gold” is quite difficult to convey correctly, but in the photo below it most closely matches reality.

In general, design is a subjective matter, so I’ll continue - in the upper part of the front panel there is a standard front camera, earpiece, sensors (proximity and light) and... LED indicator.

More detailed photos:

At the bottom there is only a mechanical home button, which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

Let's walk along the edges. On the top edge there is only an audio jack:

On the bottom there is a MicroUSB for charging, a mono speaker and a microphone.

On the right side there is a volume rocker and a power button. The buttons are pressed clearly, without any play.

SIM card slot (either SIM and MicroSD cards) is on the left side. Usually this “carriage” does not always fit well and tightly into the body of smartphones, but there is no such drawback here. Installs inside with a click and tightly.

Finishing the external inspection, it’s the turn of the back cover. I have already written about its not the most standard color, so it remains to consider it in more detail. At the top, as usual, there is a slightly protruding rear camera eye and a single LED flash. It’s strange that despite its thickness (which is 9.6mm), the smartphone still has a protruding camera, by about one millimeter. The steel rim will, of course, protect it, but nothing will protect the camera completely from scratches. Also, only a single flash is a little disappointing.

There is nothing interesting on the bottom of the back cover. But as you can see in the photo above, the smartphone has two plastic inserts on the top and bottom for better signal reception.

***

Build quality and materials The smartphone is good. These plastic inserts do not protrude anywhere and fit quite tightly to the body. Upon a very careful examination, I did not find any defects in the case, which are usually often found in such smartphones (for example, small factory scratches or small chips). Overall, the K6000 Plus feels like a solid smartphone right out of the box, as it should for a smartphone that costs over $150.

Regarding convenience use - despite its rather large size and steel body, which does not contribute at all to convenience, like the same soft-touch or ordinary plastic, the smartphone fits well in the hand. Largely thanks to the beveled edges. But, of course, not everyone will be comfortable using a smartphone with a 5.5" screen, although this is more a matter of habit. Another photo in hand, to estimate the size:

*
*
*

Display.

Yes, as I mentioned just above, the smartphone has a 5.5" display with FHD (1080x1920) resolution. The specifications indicate an IPS matrix, the matrix manufacturer is AU Optronics.

The screen made a good impression on me. When you turn it on for the first time, you can most often immediately notice some deviations, such as too cold shades or a faded image. But here, despite the fact that manufacturers continue to put almost black wallpapers on the desktop, which will perform well only on Amoled matrices, it was immediately clear that the image was quite pleasant and without significant distortion.

In this photo you can see little, but this is the maximum that was achieved with the camera :)

Regarding brightness - the maximum is enough to see something on the screen in bright sunshine, but the minimum is not surprising. I would even say blinding :)

As for the viewing angles, I liked the smartphone right when I turned it on for the first time, because on a black background it is easiest to determine the quality of the display. Even with a strong deviation, the colors are practically not inverted. It can be seen that IPS.

First start. OS.

Almost installed on the smartphone latest version- Android 7.0. Of course, it would not be possible without the pre-installed launcher from Oukitel. All it changes is removing the application menu and redesigning the multitasking window. And if the first is easily removed by installing a third-party launcher, for example Google Start, then the second does not change. But this is not so significant.

There are few pre-installed applications out of the box - only QRCode Scan and Youtube can be highlighted separately. I’m very glad that the Chinese decided not to stuff their smartphone with a lot of regional and, most often, non-working applications. As for the screenshots (and subsequent ones) - in them the font does not seem to be smoothed, but in reality everything is fine. It’s just that for better display, screenshots have to be reduced in size.

In the “about the phone” section, the manufacturer decided to add information about some of the characteristics of the smartphone. It is clear that all added items remained without Russification. As you can see in the screenshots below, the smartphone is running firmware from April 8, and of the 64GB of internal memory, just under 54GB is available. On average, there is a little more than two gigabytes of free memory.

Even for those who first encountered the seventh android, there is nothing particularly new to tell here. This version is practically no different in appearance from the sixth and fifth versions, except for a more “flat” design. There are many differences at the software level, which also make no sense to mention. But I can show you an Easter egg of this version - a game similar to “Pokemon Go”, which is activated in the same way as in other versions of the system. After launch, a small cat icon will appear, which indicates that the game is running. It is not clear what happens next, since there are no instructions or details in the system. But to continue, you need to open the notification curtain and in its settings you can add the “Easter Egg” icon. After adding, open the curtain back and click on the icon - the choice of “bait” will appear. We choose something and now all that remains is to wait.

After some time, a cat will appear in the notification shade :)
From my own experience, after collecting more than 200 cats (and as far as I know, there are at least 1000 of them here), viewing them begins to lag very much. The list stops responding and eventually closes with an error. And I’ve had this for almost a year now. But maybe there is no such problem here, but it won’t be possible to check this soon - cats don’t come that often :)

The same mistake

On Nexus 5X with 7.1.2

Not the best useful information, but maybe someone was interested :)

Let's continue. Apart from the fact that not everything is normal here with Russification, just look here:

You can still find interesting items in the settings. For example, a fingerprint scanner. In the latest versions of Android, software support for this function was added, so the Chinese did not have to do/look for third party application to configure it. Everything is done as standard and through the most common smartphone settings:

It works well. It works very quickly, although sometimes it happens that it doesn’t work the first time. But here it depends more on the fact that you need to get used to it and its location, since it is not always possible to place your thumb normally on the button directly below the center of the screen. To unlock, by the way, the button can be pressed or touched. But it’s more tactilely pleasant to press, rather than just touch, so you have confidence that you put your finger there :)

But what pleasantly surprised me is that the manufacturer decided to stretch itself a little and add a couple of interesting features with this scanner. For example, you can put a “back” action on the scanner, and it will be triggered by a normal (and any) touch of the button. That is, the scanner will detect any typos, not just a specific one. You can also set the camera shutter release to hold your finger on the scanner (without pressing) or, for example, to answer a call. More details about all this can be seen in the screenshots below. Not to say that there are many functions, but they are really applicable in everyday use.

Another interesting feature in the settings is the LED indicator setting. And it seems that upon first viewing there is nothing useful in its settings, but this is not so - when notifications are missed, the diode blinks very strongly in blue. In the same way as when the charge is low (15% and below), the red diode blinks. And since it is really bright, it can be annoying and interfere with using the smartphone at night, for example. It's good that the manufacturer took care of this. This is not the case everywhere, as far as I know.

What does an LED look like?

Here the developers also added another interesting and useful function- record screen directly from the notification shade, with one touch. I think this function does not need any special details. The recording quality matches the displayed picture. In general, this is a very good surprise - not everywhere you find the ability to record a screen so easily. The only pity is that there are no settings, and the video is recorded without sound.

Another thing I would like to show in the system is the multi-window mode. It may seem that it was added a long time ago, but, in fact, it began to work fully with Android 7.0. It may also seem that it is not needed at all, but it is very convenient, as I was convinced of myself. To start it, you need to press the button once context menu and a list of recent ones will open running applications(here, by the way, you can see the changes made by the launcher from Oukitel - they added something like “Clean Master”), after which you just need to press your finger on desired application and drag it to the top of the screen. Below you can select another application.

This way you can calmly watch, for example, a video, and at the same time search for something on the Internet. Many applications can be thought of.

As for updates, Oukitel does not stand out in terms of timely updates, and having installed the seventh version of Android, they are unlikely to remember the K6000 Plus when new versions are released (not counting 7.1+). However, the smartphone has a special application for checking for updates and you can expect a couple of patches. In the application settings, you can even configure the frequency of checking for updates.

So, what can we say about the operation of the smartphone as a whole - during the time of use (almost two weeks), I did not have a single application crash. Although on similar smartphones the same error can often occur. Google Play. But due to the fact that this is practically the latest version of Android, where things are better with optimization for such smartphones than in previous versions, everything here works quite smoothly and quickly. Personally, the only thing I didn’t like here was the pre-installed launcher and the lack of on-screen buttons, which I’m just used to. The rest of the system here, surprisingly, has no serious “jambs”, not counting the clumsy Russification.

Tests.

This is probably already a pretty boring aspect in smartphones. Of course, every year the power is increasing and increasing, but there have not been, and still are not, any demanding applications and games. Therefore, I will be brief: the smartphone has an 8-core 64bit MTK MT6750T processor with 4 Cortex A53 cores at 1.5GHz and 4 at 1.0GHz. As you can see in the photo comparison of characteristics, the processor in the K6000 Plus is not far removed from last year’s model, which featured an MT6753 on the same eight cores with a frequency of 1.3GHz. The main difference lies in the improved video accelerator - our “hero of the review” has a Mali-T860MP2 with a core frequency of 650 MHz. Well, all this is complemented, of course, by 4GB of DDR3 RAM.

And now the tests.

More details in Antutu:

AIDA64 for details:

Below in the screenshot you can see information about Wi-Fi. As you can see, the 5GHz band is not supported.

Touching on the topic of wireless networks, Wi-Fi works without failures. There are no problems with speed either.

Everything is also fine with GPS - in an apartment in 20-30 seconds the smartphone finds 8-9 satellites, on the street twice as much. At the first launch, it took a long time to determine the location, but after that everything was fast.

Now let's continue with performance tests - 3DMark (two main tests for FHD):

Geekbench, where you can compare performance with other processors. You can see that this MT6750T is somewhere at the level of fairly old top-end Qualcomm ones. Which, again, does not prevent these “old” processors from being at the same level today.

CPU performs better:

Epic Citadel on three graphics settings:

Frankly speaking, this is far from a top-end filling, and for almost $200 you can find options for almost top processors from the same MTK. But to put it bluntly, such options will be redundant. Here the filling is quite consistent with the smartphone and there are no problems in terms of performance and should not happen in the near future.

Camera.

In previous models of this series, interpolation was used and this alone did not allow one to evaluate the quality. And it’s worth admitting that the very use of interpolation does not mean anything good. But in the case of the K6000 Plus, things seem to be better - the rear camera is a 16MP OmniVision16880 module, and the front camera is 8MP, Hynix Hi-846. The main camera module is impressive. Although, we all know that most often it’s not about the hardware, but about optimization and software filling. The photos themselves depend on the skill of the hands, but this is no longer the topic :)

The first thing I notice when I turn on the camera on Chinese devices is the same application with incomprehensible settings, such as some strangely working stabilization, ZSD and the rest. It’s still not clear to me what the problem is with installing “Google Camera” with a normal interface as the main camera application. Unless this is prohibited by Google itself, but I don’t know that, so I won’t undertake to talk in more detail. I’d better continue - yes, there is exactly that incomprehensible camera here. But, surprisingly (although not so big, because the manufacturer has made changes in many places, as it turns out), the application here looks a little different from others and the interface is much more convenient. Actually, everything can be seen in the screenshots below. Where you can even notice the presence of a manual mode.

The settings are the same as before. I recommend disabling all unnecessary and unknown functions.

There is also a set of filters :)

Examples. I won’t be verbose - in good lighting, especially in clear weather, the photos come out good. When approaching, almost no oversharping is noticeable, which is what most people suffer from Chinese smartphones. There are no problems with color rendering either. But with overexposure - yes. I still haven’t found an HDR mode in the camera, and without it you’ll have to look at either overexposed areas or darkened ones. Otherwise, the pictures were surprising. Below I will leave a link to download the originals, but for now I will show some examples (here they are reduced, since full sizes are not downloaded):

Artificial lighting:

Macro examples:

But if in the daytime the pictures could surprise, then in the dark, unfortunately, nothing good came of it. There is a lot of noise, it is difficult to focus and there is a lot of “soap”. Although from a distance it looks more or less.

And nothing happened with the flash. When autofocusing, it seems that a good photo will come out, but in the end it turns out to be very overexposed. The timings don't match. You can only hope for a patch.
For clarity, here is the photo that came out (and, frankly speaking, it is far from “good”):

And here's what was shown before the picture:

Yes, I would like to say a few words about video shooting - many places indicate the presence of 4K video, which is logical, because the module supports it. But in the quality selection settings (exactly the place where you have to choose between High and Good quality) maximum resolution can be obtained by selecting “Good quality”, and this is 1920x1080. Purely logically, " High quality“It should be 4K, but here it’s 720p. As for the quality of this video itself, the situation here, for some reason, is very different from the situation with the photo part. During the day, the videos come out very blurry, and you can also notice that there are problems with the frame rate. At night - everything is the same, but several times worse. True, instead, it’s enough just to say that the video here is recorded in 3gp. We made it :)

Example two. In the dark.

Battery.

Let's start with the advertising posters: non-removable 6080mAh SCUD battery.

Fast charging, capable of charging a smartphone 100% in 100 minutes:

And although everything is fine on paper, the situation here is the same as with the cameras. So almost the main thing is optimization. I already had several Chinese smartphones, including Oukitel models, which had one big problem- strong discharge in standby mode. Here, fortunately, there is no such thing. In 16 hours with Wi-Fi on and mobile communications Only 6% of the charge was used.

And at the time of writing the review, the smartphone has been working in the same mode (Wi-Fi and communication) for the fifth day, and this is with the remaining 40 percent. So I can safely say that there are no problems with power consumption in standby mode.

As for the active mode of use, the smartphone was able to squeeze out almost 7 hours of continuous screen operation at maximum brightness. Wi-Fi was on all the time and the connection was working. I used the smartphone for a variety of things: from watching videos on Youtube to checking email. As a result of such an intense load, the smartphone worked for more than a day and this is a very good result. Besides, I doubt that many people look at a smartphone screen for seven hours a day.

And yes, the manufacturer also did not ignore this point and added a special energy saving mode, which is activated when the charge is low. In this mode, only a couple of functions are available, and they are related only to communication - dialing a number, messages and selecting a contact from the contact book. I saw something similar on some Samsungs, although there it was much more useful thanks to the Amoled screen. However, even here this mode helps to save battery by disabling all unnecessary processes.

Conclusion.

Let me summarize.

Among the advantages of a smartphone, I can highlight:
- good quality display
- presence of LED indicator
- good optimization coupled with Android 7.0
- 4/64GB, this is more than enough
- nevertheless, the scanner is well implemented here
- sound. Not "out of the blue"
- of course, working hours and fast charging
- loud speaker and no connection problems

Neutral:
- quality of materials and workmanship
- weight and dimensions
- wireless networks
- performance (enough)
- price

Didn't like:
- camera. The photos are good during the day, but not at night. The video is mediocre, there are problems with the flash
- poor Russification. But it's tolerable
- small number of sensors

Well... using my smartphone I was able to highlight everything that I summarized above. The smartphone really good display, which is not surprising given its cost, but you shouldn’t take it for granted either, because the Chinese can still be tricky. This is exactly what they did with the firmware - they added a couple of useful features, such as gestures for a scanner or one-touch screen recording. And to add to all this is a good multimedia component. Probably, this phrase best characterizes the smartphone - everything is good with sound, which, although I didn’t mention in the review, but which pleasantly surprised me; good filling that copes with all tasks; Well, and the battery - 7 hours of screen operation in active mode does not even need comments.
What I didn't like the most about this was the camera. All she can do is do good photos in good lighting. The manufacturer tried to configure the application, but apart from the interface, nothing changed. As a result, there are no normal videos, no photos with flash, not to mention photos in low light conditions. Otherwise, to my great surprise, I can’t say that the smartphone has any serious disadvantages. At least I didn't find them.

Of course, for that kind of money, more proven brands like Xiaomi can participate in choosing a smartphone, and Oukitel is unlikely to be able to compete with them. Nevertheless, this smartphone may also be of interest, but in its own way. So I hope the review will be useful :)
