Good day, dear readers of my blog. For a long time I learned the basics of building websites through online courses. Only recently did I finally get to reading books.

When you have a hobby in which you are a complete layman, it is difficult to develop your learning strategy in such a way as to maintain interest and develop over time. I managed to do this and now I want to share my experience with you.

Now you will find out about the most talked about and popular books on web design, courses and methods thanks to which you can achieve excellence in the field of your choice.

About the learning strategy and the main mistakes that all beginners make

Once upon a time I had an irresistible desire to know everything. I started from scratch, of course, and immediately made a very big mistake.

I was not sure that I would succeed and, as a result, did not want to spend money on a hobby. At first I didn't even try to find any online courses. Oh, this is the inherent distrust of most of us. We are used to gaining knowledge from books, textbooks. What courses? I didn’t even think to see the price and waved my hand, confident that I didn’t want any overpayments.

My first book on web design was Terry Falke-Morris's bestseller .

We will come back to it, it is really good. Any person involved in websites must read it and put it on the table. I was able to appreciate it after a while, having almost completely understood the basics. She made a completely different impression on me than the first time.

I would not recommend starting your way in programming with this bestseller for anything.

You study at an institute or school, you will never be given a stack of literature. This is no coincidence. You must see the instructor, achieve results quickly, and track progress. I would advise you to start your own with a course or an online school.

Despite the fact that the set with the "Big Book" comes with a disc containing homework, it will be difficult to study. There are many incomprehensible terms that are explained to you on the fingers. Until you get to something interesting, you will get tired. It is very difficult to surprise and please a tired and tortured person, and it is even more difficult to force yourself to return to lessons on your own.

Imagine you wanted to become a woodcarver. You are sitting in a comfortable chair, and on the monitor screen, a person picks up a saw, tells all sorts of interesting things about it, and at the same time shows it in action. By the end of the video, he has a ready-made figure, and you know what tools he used and thanks to which he achieved such a result. You go to the garage and get down to business.

It is quite different if you are immediately in the garage with a bunch of equipment. You read a chapter, then you start looking for the appropriate equipment among your assortment, compare with pictures, stumble over unfamiliar words and think what kind of brushing is and what it looks like in real life.

To achieve the result, for novice web designers, I recommend the school of Alexei Zakharenko " Web designer profession».

There are 270 lessons on a variety of topics. You yourself determine the timing of the training. If the budget is limited, you can practice for one month and on your own. You will understand all the basics, and books and textbooks will not be so incomprehensible anymore.

I also took courses and over time they began to bring less and less benefit. I wanted something more: more interesting and relevant. This is where you remember the books. Now I'm going to tell you about the most talked about web design books. I won’t judge whether they are the best or not, but the fact that an incredible number of designers have read them is a fact.

Books for web designers

Courses are designed for beginners and the more educated you get, the less they help you in your work. There is too much in them that you have known for a long time. It's time to download books.

If you read "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, you know that he was afraid of a period when it would be very difficult to find truly valuable and truthful information among the heap of information. Added to this are the constant changes that are made to the design every year. What to do and who to give preference to?

Let's go back to “ The Great Book of Web Design ". If you have a base, then it will be really interesting and relevant.

Thanks to it, you can fill in the gaps that you were not told about in online courses and get detailed and full information... A textbook, and you can't call it otherwise - this is a complete information about programming languages. And if the words from the passage just below resonate in your head, then it's time to download this book.

Each term is described in detail here, but it will be very difficult to understand the whole list. It is better if you already have some knowledge at the time of reading.

Don't make me think

The second book that is said to be “ Web Design: Steve Krug's Book or Don't Make Me Think! ". I have read it and am sure that it will be really useful to all beginners who are in one way or another connected with design. Almost everyone who works in this area has at least leafed through it. In the book you will find a lot for real useful tips.

“How is this possible? After all, it was published already in 2008? " - you ask. In design, everything changes every year, and sometimes more often, and if you chase fashion and modernity, then you will not have time to work. Only reading.

This book contains the basic laws that were applied then and will be used until the end of the century. It is like the commandments of perception, which cannot be destroyed. People can change, but the basic principles are gone. You can download the second edition of this bestseller from Ozon.ru.

Or read the first one published in 2005 for free ( Download.pdf ).

And finally ...

Another book that everyone is talking about: ... The opinion of specialists about this book is diametrically opposite.

Some scold her, others praise her and consider her a set of golden rules. It is possible to understand where the truth is only after an independent acquaintance. Personally, it has not happened to me yet, so if you get ahead of me, then leave comments on this article.

I was amazed at the number of people who read it. And you can purchase a product using ozone or read the electronic version here .

That's it. If this article was useful to you, then join the subscribers. Every day there are more of us! I am sending information about new publications to many readers and I want to express my gratitude to them for their attention.

I wish each of you success in your endeavors. Until next time.
