Calculator: overview
This program is designed to perform the same actions as a regular calculator. It performs basic arithmetic operations such as addition and subtraction, as well as engineering calculator functions such as finding logarithms and factorials.

Launching Calculator
To start the program "Calculator" you need to open the menu "Start"... Then go to the tab "All programs"... Now move the mouse cursor up to the point "Standard"... Move the cursor to the right to show the tab "Calculator"... Run it (press Enter).

Performing simple calculations
Entering a number
Entering a number is carried out by pressing keys or clicking with the mouse on the buttons of the calculator. If an error occurs and the last digit is not the one you want, you can delete it. To do this, use the / button (the first button in Windows XP, the second button in Windows 7) or the key of the same name on the keyboard.
You can remove the entire number by pressing the / button or the Delete key.
Arithmetic operations
The calculator has four arithmetic operations:
+ (addition), - (subtraction), * (multiplication), and / (division).
They can be clicked on the keyboard or with the mouse
Calculations
Simple calculations are done in 4 steps:
1. Entering the first number
2. Entering the operation.
3. Enter the second number.
4. Pressing the / button or the = key or the Enter key.
After that, you can see the result. For example, let's calculate the value of the expression "2 times 2". To do this, press the buttons in sequence: 2 * 2 =
The calculator displays 4.
To set negative numbers, you must first type a number without a minus, and then press the button or the F9 key. If you press it again, the minus will disappear.
Note
To be able to enter numbers and operators using the numeric keypad, press NUM LOCK.
Copy numbers
Often it is required to take a number from some document, for example, from a spreadsheet, and make calculations with it. In any text editor or a processor with a part of the text, this is done simply. You can do the same with a calculator. To do this, the Calculator has a command "insert" "Edit" Ctrl + V.
It may also be necessary to copy the calculated results to another document. To do this, the Calculator has a command "copy"... The command can be called, either by selecting the appropriate menu item "Edit" or by pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C.
Useful features
Sometimes the number is so long that it is impossible to understand what the number is. For example, how many zeros are there in this number: 1,000,000,000,000? To solve this problem, the number is divided into groups of three digits. In the Calculator, this is done in the "View" menu by the "Number of digits in a group" command.
One more example. Let's dial 123 + 7 and then we understand what we wanted to multiply. The last operation can no longer be canceled, the second number is already there. The only way is to undo everything and dial it all over again. To do this, press the / button or the ESC key.
Interest
One of the most common actions in accounting is the calculation of interest and operations with them. The Calculator has a separate button for this operation. Percentages are not always on their own, often you need to do something with them. Therefore, the calculation of interest and arithmetic operations are combined. In addition, you need to understand where one number ends and the second begins. Since percentages are written after the number, in order to find out from 888 50%, you need to write down 8 8 8 5 0%. But then it is not clear what numbers are written: 8885 0 or 88 850 or something else. To clearly separate one number from another, you need to press any arithmetic operation between them. Then, after pressing the percentage, the percentage of the number will be cleared. And after one, you can perform the dialed operation by pressing =. So, the sequence of working with percentages:
1. We write the number from which you want to calculate the percentage.
2. Presses the operation button. What kind of operation it will be depends on what needs to be done. For example, if you need to reduce the number by a few percent, then the "minus" operation.
3. We write the value of the percentage - the second number.
4. Press the% button. The percentage of the set number appears on the screen.
5. Press =. The operation is in progress.
Example.
Let's increase 888 by 50%.
Press: 888 + 50% it turns out 444.
Additional features
There are two more useful buttons on the Calculator that are / and /.
If you need to divide 1 by some number, then it is most convenient to type this number and press 1 / x.
And sqrt calculates the number that, being multiplied by itself, will give the original - the extraction of the square root.
Working with memory
To evaluate some expressions, you need to remember intermediate results. For example, when calculating the expression 12 * 98-34 * 65, you need to remember the result of the calculation 12 * 98, then calculate 34 * 65, and then subtract the second and the number from the first. But where to remember the result?
Of course, you can copy a number using CTRL + C and write it down somewhere, but there is an easier way. The calculator has one memory location for this. This is a place where you can remember one number, but it is enough to evaluate many expressions. In what follows, we will not call it "memory cell", we will say "memory".
So, the Calculator can remember 3 numbers: the last one typed, the number on the screen and the number in memory.
There are the following operations for working with memory:
To enter a number from the screen into memory, press the / button.
To copy a number from memory to the screen, press the / button.
To clear the memory (write 0 there), press the / button. There is no other way to remove the number from memory, the buttons will not help.
Press the / button to add the displayed number to the number stored in memory. The result will be in memory.
Note
After saving the number, the indicator M appears above the memory buttons on the calculator panel. Each new number stored in memory replaces the previous one.

Engineering Mode

- conversion of fractions of a degree to minutes and seconds (back through the "Inv" flag), calculation of factorials (for a non-integer argument, instead of a factorial, the gamma function Γ (x + 1) is calculated).
- grouping of operations (buttons with brackets, there is a nesting level indicator), switching display modes (fixed / floating point).
- calculating the remainder of the division
- bitwise operations: AND, OR, NOT, XOR. The fractional part is discarded before being calculated.
- shift to the left (shift to the right through the "Inv" flag)
