If you are the proud owner of an iPhone 5s, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2 or newer without jailbreak, there is no reason to stay on iOS 8.4.1. It's time to update the device to the new iOS 9. For iPhone 4s, iPad 2 and iPad Mini owners, the update is contraindicated - the new Apple mobile operating system will most likely work on your device much slower and with errors than on earlier versions - iPhone 4s with iOS 8 this is a direct confirmation.

Below the cut is information for those who want to update their iPhone, iPad or iPad Mini to iOS 9 correctly.

IOS 9 compatible devices

Apple's new mobile operating system can be installed on:

  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 5s
  • iPhone 5c
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4s
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPad Air
  • iPad 4
  • iPad 3
  • iPad 2
  • iPad mini 3
  • iPad mini 2
  • iPad mini
  • iPod touch 5th-gen

Consequently, they will work much slower and the battery will drain faster. You cannot roll back the iPhone firmware from the current one to an earlier one - it is guaranteed.

Create a backup

Avoid losing personal information (photos, contacts, notes, reminders, calendars, email account settings) before updating.

Clear memory

When updating iPhone and iPad via iTunes, you do not need to delete their contents first, this is done automatically.

How to install iOS 9 on iPhone and iPad "over the air"

Updating iOS over Wi-Fi is easier, but takes longer (iOS boots over Wi-Fi) and is not recommended when switching between iOS generations, as there are often performance problems later on.

If that doesn't stop you:

If you have any questions or difficulties during the update process, write to us in the comments. If this information was useful to you, please add a link to it on your pages on social networks so that others will know about us.

Hello everyone! Apple is constantly releasing new versions of iOS and, frankly, a big thank you to her for that. Why? Because, thereby, she does not let me get bored - something is constantly happening. Well, okay, back to the topic of the article. So, Apple is trying and producing, and the developers of games and applications, in turn, promptly and very quickly rewrite their programs so that they are fully compatible with the new firmware.

And in the end, such a situation may turn out - you are trying to download an application from the App Store, and the iPhone or iPad tells you that you need to update your gadget to a new version of iOS and nothing will be installed and downloaded until that moment. Here is such an unexpected ultimatum from the "apple" company and its services. Checkmate! Or not?

This disgrace looks something like this:

This content (app) requires iOS 7.0 (any version can be here) and newer. Please update to iOS 7.0 (or higher) to download and use this app.

And, it would seem, what is the problem? Update and download! But:

  • There is not always a need for a new version of the firmware, someone wants to leave their device on the old and tested version of the software. "Jambs" in iOS 10! Not everyone will want to update.
  • Many people simply cannot install new firmware - pay attention to the number of comments.
  • At the moment, people still have many such gadgets as the iPhone 4. And, as we know, the latest version of iOS for it is 7.1.2. That's it, you can't update it further, and many applications and games, when downloaded from the App Store, require iOS 8 and no less! And in the future it will continue - the next in line is the iPhone 4S, and there it is not far from the “fives”.

What to do in this case? Leave the gadget without programs and games? Of course not! After all, there is a way to download those applications on the iPhone that require a newer version of iOS than the one currently installed.

Updated! Apple surprised everyone and removed the App Store from new versions of iTunes. Therefore, before you start following the instructions, it is worth checking - do you have access to the games and applications store from your computer? Not? ... All OK"? Continue ...

True, one smartphone is not enough for this, you will also need a computer. The algorithm is quite simple:

That's it, we managed to install a program that previously required a newer version of iOS on your iPhone and iPad. And we didn't even touch the firmware - we didn't need to update it!

The only thing, as you already understood, this way old versions of applications and games are installed (specifically for the iOS that is installed on your device at the moment). So there may not be any new features (introduced in subsequent editions of the program).

But the main thing is that the application itself will work and can be used! And this is much better than just a "bare" device without any games or programs.

P.S. Did you manage to download something this way? Like it! Do you still have or have any questions? Then write in the comments!

For iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Below we will tell you how to install the update on your device.

A warning for users from jailbreak

If new features and improvements are more important to you than jailbreak, it is better to update through iTunes.

Save a backup

Step 1: Connect your iPhone or iPad to Mac or PC and open iTunes.

Step 2: In the top iTunes menu, click on your iPhone or iPad icon.

Step 3: Click Create a copy now... If you want an extra layer of security, check the box next to Encrypt backup ... This will save sensitive data such as passwords, Health app data, HomeKit accessory information, and logins. By choosing this option, you will make it easier for yourself during your recovery. Such a copy is protected by a password that can be saved in the Keychain.

Step 4: Now you need to make an archive from the copy. In the program menu, select Device settings.

Step 5: On the tab Devices right click on the saved copy and select Archive.

How to installiOS12 through Settings

The update installation process can take from a few minutes to an hour, depending on your Internet connection. It is worth downloading the update only via Wi-Fi, not mobile Internet.

Step 1: Open Settings and go to Basic> Software Update... There should be an iOS 12 update available.

Note: If in the future you want to be able to install a jailbreak, it is better to update via iTunes, because updates "over the air" often cause problems.

Step 2: Click on Download and install to start the iOS 12 installation process on your iPhone or iPad.

Probably, many users have always dreamed of putting iOS on Android and evaluating it in action, enjoying the beauty and outlines of the apple operating system. Or you noticed that not all applications from the App Store are available on Google Play. Of course, there are a large number of analogues of such programs, but I still want to try the software from the Apple store. True, the "apple" device is quite expensive. That is why the question arises: is there a way with Apple's operating system on Android? It will not be possible to fully port the Apple OS, but thanks to the so-called emulators, a unique opportunity to put iOS on Android still exists.

What is an emulator?

Before proceeding with the installation process itself, you need to familiarize yourself with the initial terms. So, an emulator is a computer program that allows you to recreate (emulate) the work of another operating system or environment to be able to run on an existing device. For example, there are Android emulators for personal computers that allow PC users to run games and applications from Google Play. Now such an opportunity has become available to users of Android gadgets who want to install iOS on them. Let's take a look at all the existing ways to run or emulate iOS on Android devices.

1 way. Cider Project (Cycada)

The Cider project was presented at the Computer Science Research Conference at Columbia University. It enables iOS programs to adapt to the Android core and programming library. It uses binary compatibility methods to open not only your own, but also "foreign" software on one gadget. That is, it becomes possible to run iOS applications on Android.

Cider exercises the right to perform some trick with the iOS program code, making it possible to perceive it as based on the XNU Kernel. This does not use an emulator or a virtual machine - the code changes in real time, allowing the application to manipulate the Android kernel and libraries. The platforms are built on the basis of ARM. To unite them, an Android program called CycadaPress is used, which receives information about various kinds of actions (text input, notifications from applications, etc.) and transmits them to iOS. It convinces the system that the CycadaPress window is the display of the Apple device. This allows you to perform other actions with the screen.

The video shows that many iOS applications on Android are launched, including the iOS version of the Yelp program, iBooks. However, as noted by the creators, the speed and smoothness of the software leaves much to be desired. But this was to be expected, because Cycada is at the testing and development stage. It is unknown if the project will be released in full. Perhaps, after a while, the final version for the large market will still appear, which will create a real sensation.

It is also unclear whether the project will be interesting now, since most games and applications are released for all existing platforms. There are, of course, isolated cases, but mostly these are unique programs like Garage Band, Pages, iMovie. If you want to take advantage of them, why buy an Android device? That is why there is a distinction between operating systems, since each manufacturer tries to offer the user a new unique service.

Method 2. Installing the firmware

This method is more suitable for extremists and enthusiasts, since it involves completely removing the Android operating system and installing a special firmware on the device. Such manipulations can lead to sad consequences. In case of failure, you will need to. If this does not help, hurry to the service center. And with the worst outcome, you run the risk of getting a "brick" - a completely inoperative device, without the possibility of switching on and further operation. If you still decide to change the firmware, follow the instructions below.

If you have been using iOS for a long time, then you probably know that after updating the system, unpleasant bugs and jambs often climb over the air. In this material - how to properly prepare for the update and clean your gadget from the garbage accumulated during use.

Following Apple's recommendations and personal experience, I highly recommend backing up your data on your smartphone, because problems always appear at the most inopportune moment. The backup will take less time and will allow you to avoid losing important information. So before "cleaning", be sure to go to Settings → iCloudBackup and create a copy of your data.

The same procedure can be done through iTunes- open the application, click on the device icon in the upper left corner and you will see the backup window.

After copying all the data, the most crucial moment comes - installing the firmware. This can be done in two ways. The first is fully automatic mode, you only need to click on Restore iPhone in iTunes. In this case, the program will start downloading the latest release firmware and automatically install it on the smartphone. All data will naturally disappear. You can restore them in the backup window, which is located just below.

After downloading the firmware, launch iTunes, click on the device icon in the upper left corner and in the window that opens, click on Restore iPhone holding down the key option (alt) on Mac or Shift on a PC. The combination will open an explorer window in which you need to find the image of the previously downloaded firmware and click Open.

Be sure to turn off the function before the procedure. Find my iPhone otherwise iTunes will not allow the installation and will issue a warning.

Then the program will do all the dirty work for you - just wait until the installation is complete and set up the device for further use. This method is also suitable if you have forgotten your screen lock password or want to sell your iPhone - the activation lock is removed even before installation, so that a new user does not have to enter your data to use the device.
