If you are unable to launch any game, you may need to download OpenGL and install it on your Windows. It is a set of specifications and libraries required for some applications to work correctly.

When creating IT solutions, standardized OpenGL APIs are often used to implement the graphical part. They must also be present on the user's computer for these applications to be able to work. In most cases, they come with the graphics card drivers. But it happens that they become obsolete. In this case, you need to update them.

The delivery of this version includes the OpenGL Extension Viewer, which allows you to get comprehensive information about system drivers:

OpenGL will be required to run Minecraft and CS 1.6 and other games. So it's best to make sure that the latest drivers are installed on the system.

Each computer is made up of so-called "components". This word denotes the processor, motherboard, video card, storage drives and more. For the operation of each such component part, there is a specially written by the manufacturer software called. Manufacturers respecting themselves and their users try to regularly improve and update the drivers of their products.

Before publishing a stable working version of a driver, it is not uncommon for manufacturers to publish their beta versions. Beta driver- this is a test version and it is offered, as a rule, to identify errors and shortcomings directly in the process of working on users' computers. Such versions may contain new features or "chips", but there may be shortcomings, malfunctions or "bugs". Beta versions can be interesting for enthusiasts or developers. For a regular user already offered stable versions, which come out a little later, but with fixed bugs. It is known that Microsoft additionally tests drivers in its laboratory for compatibility with its products and puts its own

In 2015, the Khronos Group, an open consortium of software and hardware developers, released the OpenGL ES 3.2 specification. It covers almost all smartphones and mobile devices using Android OS. In addition, the OpenGL 2015 ARB extension was introduced to desktop computers... In connection with these events, NVIDIA has released for its video cards new version OpenGL Driver. This set of drivers enables the new OpenGL ES 3.2 or OpenGL ARB capabilities to be used on all GPUs based on the Maxwell, Kepler, or Fermi architecture.

Perhaps you get an error related to something with the video driver when you start your favorite Minecraft, then this article will definitely help you. Such a mistake can be caught using, but there is a solution! "

This is how an error might look like:

Full text:

Minecraft was closed due to incompatibility of video card drivers... They may not support the version of OpenGL used in the running version of Minecraft. Anyway, please try to find and install beta drivers for your graphics card and try again.

If you explain in more detail, then because of the old or not at all installed version drivers for your video card, the game cannot start in principle. Therefore, this error took off. The solution is pretty commonplace - update video card drivers.

There are two main graphics card developers - NVIDIA (GeForce) and AMD (Radeon). First, you need to find out from which manufacturer your video card is.
Note: If you know one of the card manufacturers - Palit, ASUS, MSI, Chaintech, Sapphire, then this is a bit different, they still make video cards using AMD or NVIDIA technology.

How do you know whose video card you have?

1) Click "Start", enter "dxdiag" into the search, and run this program.

2) A window will open in which you need to select the "Monitor" tab (Or perhaps "Display")

Fig 1. Dxdiag in the Monitor tab with an NVIDIA graphics card

Fig 2. Dxdiag in the Display tab with an AMD graphics card

3) As you can see from Figure 1, there are video cards from Nvidia. On the next screen (Fig. 2), a video card from AMD. Compare and choose yours.

3.1) If you are not on Windows, then:

1) Open a terminal.
2) Enter “lspci -v | less ”.
3) Look for something related to VGA Compatible or Video Controller.
4) Next, find the manufacturer of your video card.

Try to update all system components through special program(App Store).

4) After you have decided on the manufacturer, you need to download the driver for one of them.
