Tape recorders are gaining popularity again as an alternative to other analog players, which is not surprising given the rather unexpected background of compact cassettes in fashion. Of course, the format has always enjoyed special respect in the narrow circles of experimental electronics. Recently, however, releases have also begun to hit the top of the mainstream charts.

However, it is no secret to anyone that today manufacturers practically do not pay attention to cassette decks. Suffice it to say that we have not been able to find a single modern model of a non-portable turntable on the market. Fortunately, the cassette format remained popular until the late 90s, and there are plenty of decent and affordable options since then.

Of course, most of them can be found on Avito. In addition, you can try your luck at Meshok or other similar Russian online auctions. Don't forget about Western platforms like Ebay or Yahoo! Japan, but the prices for the delivery of decks from these sites in most cases bite. Some retailers of used audio systems also sell tape recorders, the price for them will of course be slightly higher, but this is compensated by the presence of a guarantee, which clearly does not hurt when using vintage models.

When purchasing a tape recorder, it should be remembered that this is a rather complex mechanical device, and the more it is, the greater the likelihood of wear of any of the numerous parts. This advice is especially relevant given the fact that even the newest models on this list date from the mid-90s. However, everything here depends on the care of the equipment - thanks to proper handling, many vintage models that have come down to us have managed to maintain functionality. Ideally, it would be a good idea to test the deck before purchasing, especially if it cannot be returned in the event of a malfunction. Anyone who has used cassette players knows what they can do to a cassette if it gets jammed or broken.

Most of the most popular models of tape recorders were produced in Japan, which is famous for the reliability and maintainability of its equipment. This explains the presence of a large number of working rare models on the Internet sites, which do not diminish in any way in terms of sound after restoration, but significantly reduce in price. But, of course, only if the repair was carried out in a reputable specialized service. Listed below are a few noteworthy pre-owned cassette deck models that are widely available in today's aftermarket.

Akai DX-57

Price: ~ 7000-12000₽

Now this brand is mainly known among musicians thanks to a wide range of electronic instruments, but earlier Akai specialized in tape recorders, including reel to reel. The three-head DX-57 dates back to the early nineties and features a ¼ ”headphone jack and bias current control to handle a wide variety of films. It is also worth noting that in comparative testing conducted by the authoritative publication What Hi-Fi, it surpassed the Sony WM-DC6 Walkman Pro, revered by many audiophiles, in all respects.

Denon DR-M24HX

Price: ~ 9000₽

Over the years, Denon has still not lost its status as one of the most trusted manufacturers of audio equipment. Although, since the Denon DR-M24HX was released in the late 1980s, the company is best known for its decent quality stereo amplifiers. Popular with cassette-format connoisseurs, this model boasts three magnetic heads, full manual setting and a stable drive train. Dolby B and C noise reduction systems eliminate the characteristic hiss while listening, and the drive belt is easy to replace and can be found online without any problems.

Denon DRS-810

Price: ~ 5000-9000₽

A later model from the same Denon. With its design, the DRS-810 is reminiscent of the CD players that had appeared by that time, which should have been to the taste of enthusiasts of the coming digital era. Like CDs, cassettes were placed horizontally in this tape recorder, and the playback process could not be observed through a transparent window in the door of the cassette compartment. Initially, this model came with a remote control, but now they are almost impossible to find. In addition, the DRS-810 is equipped with Dolby B and C noise reduction systems, as well as a dynamic bias system with current control. True, the latter is not very convenient to use.

JVC TD-V662

Price: ~ 8000-12000₽

This worthy 1993 cassette deck doesn’t need frills like chromium dioxide cassettes or metal powders for decent recording and sound quality; it works well with conventional cassettes based on gamma iron oxide, and will be ideal for those who plan to listen to only cassettes with pre-recorded music with it (i.e., cassette releases of certain artists). The cassette compartment is located in the center of the case, which gives the model a strong style. In addition to the familiar ¼ ”headphone jack and Dolby B, C and HX Pro systems, the deck includes a CD Direct jack for the perfect signal-to-noise ratio during recording. Previously, JVC was considered one of the leading representatives of the field of video and audio equipment, and still continues to produce headphones, boomboxes and camcorders. And, it is possible that over the years, the tape recorders of this brand have survived better than other analogues.

Pioneer CT-S740S

Price: ~ 13000-17000₽

Pioneer Japan has a legendary reputation for the quality of its technology. And from time to time, the company managed to produce not only reliable, but also decent-sounding models - such as, for example, the CT-S740S. First published in the 70s, it competed with the Nakamichi tape recorders, which at that time were considered the standard of the cassette world. Equipped with Dolby S - the pinnacle of noise cancellation that ensured maximum cassette recording quality - this deck was Pioneer's major victory over film noise. Due to its cult status, the CT-S740S rarely appears for sale online, but it all depends on patience and luck.

Sony TC-K611S

Price: ~ 11000-15000₽

At one time, Sony did not establish itself as the most reliable manufacturer of home cassette players. But the TC-K611S, released in 1994, was one of the few successful attempts by the company to declare itself in this field. In this case, for more High Quality recordings will require cassettes based on chromium dioxide or metal powders. Thus, this is not the best option for those planning to use the tape recorder solely for listening. But for the home recording enthusiast, this deck will be one of the best choices on the market. Three magnetic heads, Dolby S noise cancellation and the ability to remote control - again, if you are lucky enough to get a remote control, help these goals.

Yamaha KX-300

Price: ~ 5000₽

A tangible echo of the 80s, produced by a company that has remained faithful over the years. Assembled in Japan, the KX-300 features amorphous metal drivers for impeccable sound quality. The venerable age of these tape recorders can often indicate the need to replace the drive belt. Fortunately, as practice shows, they are not so difficult to find and purchase at an affordable price. A relatively simple deck design includes two magnetic heads, a full range of noise reduction systems and a remote control function. But key feature model is a system of automatic tape calibration, which will allow you to achieve the best recording quality on any type of cassette.

Nakamichi BX-125E

Price: ~ 10000-15000₽

An unshakable giant in the cassette player industry, Nakamichi once produced some of the best sounding models in the niche. Seen in this light, the day on which CD players finally replaced tape recorders was a tragic date for many audiophiles. This is not to say that the BX-125E was the company's most outstanding soundboard, but it was a combination of a time-honored reputation and solid sound quality. A bonus to this is the external style of the model - which is only the sliders on the right side of the panel. At the same time, in terms of additional functions, the BX-125E did not differ from its closest counterparts in a similar price segment. But unlike the faded sound quality of most cassette players, the melodies blowing from Nakamichi were simply uplifting.

In the 1980s, the tape recorder was the main attribute of the tough guy who could easily throw a party or take the equipment with him on a camping trip. With a "cassette player" you could go out into the yard or walk around the area with friends. "The cassette player" was the dream of all the boys of those years ...

The tape recorder was the most important part of the non-state culture and non-state economy of the Soviet Union. State culture was heard through radio hotspots, "Record" televisions and "Aurora" electrophones.
The tape recorder, thanks to the possibility of re-recording, distributed what was not released on records and did not sound on TV - from Vysotsky with Galich to Arkady Severny and Pink Floyd, covering the entire spectrum of music not covered by Melodiya.
Household appliances were expensive. Not cheap - that's to say the least. The average Soviet family prepared for the purchase of a cassette tape recorder with no less trepidation than, say, for the birth of their first child.

Money for a shabby cassette player was put aside for months, during which all family members, without exception, were engaged in a painful and painful process, which I once described with the strange word "watching." This process boiled down to regular visits to stores with radio goods.
Although, the process is a bit of a different word that defines all the action that unfolded in these stores. If you think about it, buyers of those years do right choice it was much easier - the number of products offered at the same time never reached even a dozen.
Nevertheless, in the sales areas of stores, always and at any time, one could meet a crowd of sullen men who crowded around the counter, silently looking at the angular radios, massive turntables and cassette decks.

As a rule, each of the men was mentally aimed at a particular product, which he came to look at every day. The whole process took 10-15 minutes, after which one "kind of buyer" was replaced by another. People came and went, but the crowd of curious people almost never dwindled.
At this exhibition of unfulfilled desires dominated, of course, the seller. The sellers in the radio stores of those years were quite an interesting type: dressed in the latest fashion in one hundred-ruble imported jeans, they radiated around them a charge of grandeur, uniqueness and awareness of their own superiority over ordinary mortals.
Not paying any attention to the "stailers", the seller looked majestically through the crowd, looking at the fragments of trolleybuses, grain vans and panel transporters, barely visible over the heads of human beings, steadily making their way along the city streets

Of course, this was not always the case. From time to time the doors of the store were thrown open by yesterday's "stanzel", and he did it not cautiously, ingratiatingly, as usual, but in a businesslike manner, confidently and proudly looking at those around him. And immediately everyone around them understood that this man now would certainly buy something ...

Old cassette audio tape recorders

Cassette recorders- are familiar to all. Film width (3.81 mm), plastic container size and shape are standard; the length and type of tape may vary.
The most inexpensive and widespread is the film coated with iron oxide (Fe2O3). Chromium dioxide (CrO2) tapes outperform them in dynamic range; The best quality is ensured by Metal-type belts (discontinued in the 1990s). Multilayer films (“ferrochrome”), introduced in the 1970s, soon fell out of use. Depending on the type of tape, during recording, the parameters of the bias current during playback are set - frequency compensation of high frequencies.
Low (compared to reel-to-reel tape recorders) tape advance speed inevitably generates a high level of noise. To suppress noise, compander noise reduction systems are used, which, when recording, compress the dynamic range of the signal, "raising" quiet fragments of the recording over the noise of the tape, and during playback, expand the dynamic range to the original. Noise canceling tapes should be played back with the same noise canceling system that was selected when recording.

Class III portable cassette tape recorder Electronics-302"
The "Elektronika-302" tape recorder was produced until 1984. The main plant that produced this model is the Moscow "TochMash" ", but I think that the tape recorder produced some other
plant, its logo on the third tape recorder. The "Elektronika-302" tape recorder is designed for recording and reproducing sound on a magnetic tape 3.81 mm wide, placed in an MK-60 cassette.
It is developed on the basis of the unified model "Elektronika-301", differing from it by the use of a new dynamic head 1GD-40 instead of 0.5GD-30, slider volume and tone controls, and a more modern appearance. The rated output power of the tape recorder amplifier is 0.8 W, the operating sound frequency range is 63 ... 10000 Hz. The tape recorder is powered by six elements 343 a through a power supply inserted into the battery compartment and from an alternating current voltage of 127/220 V. The dimensions of the tape recorder are 315x225x90 mm, weight 3.5 kg. Due to the claims of the warranty workshops for the poor quality of the sliders, they were soon replaced with regular angle ones.
Over the years, the tape recorder has undergone many changes in the electrical circuit, transistors and a microcircuit were installed in the output stage of the amplifier, the whole circuit was corrected.

It is designed for recording or reproducing sound using a magnetic tape placed in an MK-60 cassette. The IZH-302 tape recorder consists of 3 main units housed in a plastic case: a tape-broaching mechanism, an amplifier and an inserted power supply unit. The tape recorder allows you to: record from the MD-64M microphone, radio or television receiver, audio frequency amplifier, radio transmission line, electrophone and other tape recorder; playback through a built-in loudspeaker, an audio frequency amplifier, an external speaker, headphones - TDS-3. The recording level is monitored using a dial gauge. During playback and rewinding, the indicator shows the supply voltage. The tape recorder provides, during recording or playback, a temporary stop of the medium, which is carried out by pressing the temporary stop key, when the same key is pressed again, the movement of the media is resumed. Turning off the recording or playback is performed by pressing the stop and cassette lifting key, until the pressed keys are reset, when the same key is pressed again, the cassette is lifted. The button located on the microphone allows you to remotely control the turning on and off of the tape recorder, which makes it possible to use it for reporting purposes. The duration of operation from one set of fresh elements of the A-343 type is at least 10 hours, with cyclic operation no more than two hours a day.

Now there is a fashion to praise everything that was in the Soviet Union. It got to the point that on one of the sites they posted pictures from a Stalinist book about tasty and healthy food, while the top-starter stubbornly argued that this was how the Soviet people were fed in ordinary canteens. I remembered for a long time. I remembered how in Soviet canteens, semolina was diluted with boiling water from the tap (not even boiled water), I remembered sticky "erasers", which for some reason were called dumplings, I remember well how as children we bought coffee concentrate with sugar and gnawed it, as with delicious candy was "tension", however, and the concentrate then disappeared. I also remember that because of Soviet food, I was in the hospital twice with dysentery and once with hepatitis. A similar situation was with Soviet electronics. Whoever claims the opposite is simply lying. I had to not only use Soviet electronics, but also repair it and even design something myself. Of course, there were successful and reliable specimens, but this was a great rarity.

Origin and element base

As a rule, everything that was developed and produced in the Soviet Union from consumer electronics copied from Western samples. The design, the principle of operation, the original developments were stolen. And it wouldn't be so bad if we could copy well. But the problem is that we did it all much worse, out of shitty Soviet details and with a great delay. Cassette decks existed in the West back in the 1970s, one of the first "Mayak" cassette decks appeared sometime in 1984. In the Scoop there were no normal motors for cassette recorders, so a huge three kilogram of motors from a reel-to-reel tape recorder was inserted into the "Mayak". Is it worth mentioning how such a tape recorder tore and pulled the tape in cassettes? Those same cassettes that cost as much as five kilograms of sausage. The tape drive mechanism, the recording and playback head, and the control of the tape recorder left much to be desired. And yet, against the background of the rest of the Soviet trash, this model of the tape recorder was popular and in demand because there was no choice.

Open the lid of this "Lighthouse" and look inside. Do you know which board is the largest board inside? You will never guess! This is a mode switching board (record, play, rewind, stop, pause). Where on a foreign tape recorder one microcircuit is responsible for all this (hence the reliability), in the USSR there were huge boards with a bunch of outdated parts on tape recorders. I draw your attention to the fact that as an example I choose the most successful, the best examples of Soviet electronics. And all kinds of things were produced ...

Here we come close to the Soviet element base. Almost everyone at least once asked the question: "Why is there a bunch of different radio components in a Soviet TV set, and in an imported one, one medium-sized board is responsible for everything?" But this concerns just the Soviet element base. The radio amateur circuits of the same, for example, power amplifier were strikingly different from the circuit of a "store" power amplifier. Radio amateur circuits were compact and contained, in general, a few radio components, unlike store-bought ones. Why is that? The answer is simple. Soviet radio components did not meet basic requirements. A radio amateur could choose a suitable one from a dozen identical parts, such a trick did not take place on the conveyor.

For example, a transistor (triode) has a ton of parameters. One of the main ones is the gain. If we take two similar transistors of Soviet and Japanese production, then for the Japanese this parameter can be 170-180. I was lucky once - I was allowed to disassemble a broken Japanese synthesizer for parts. The synthesizer was about 15. Old by normal standards, but what was my surprise that half of the parts have no Soviet counterparts. They have not yet been invented in the USSR. Then I started to measure the gain of these old transistors from the synthesizer. It turned out to be in the range of 173-178. That is, within the normal range. For a similar Soviet transistor, reference books give out the amplification factor limits of 40-180. If we measure the real gain of these Soviet transistors, then the range will be 20-120. The discrepancy is six times and does not fall within the norm at all. And I also came across transistors with a coefficient of 0. That is, it seems to be working, but does not amplify.

It was from such junk that Soviet electronics were assembled. And the circuits were cumbersome, because they included multiple additional circuits and cascades designed to compensate for the poor quality of Soviet radio components.
Here's another interesting nuance. All the best in the USSR went to the "military", the average - to production, the remaining trash - in the sphere of public consumption.

An acquaintance in 1987 buys a "Comet-212" tape recorder. A month later he brings it to me - a quiet sound through one channel. I dig and find a malfunction - the electrolytic capacitor has dried out. Capacitors are another trick of the Soviet element base: outdated, with large dimensions and low parameters, they are produced by one plant for the entire USSR in Yerevan. Well, you get the idea. For the sake of interest, I look at other parts of the tape recorder. The trend is this: the tape recorder was released in 1987, the radio parts were released in 1983, the radio parts were developed in 1969-1975. Imagine that you bought a computer, and inside the development of 18 years ago! Welcome to Scoop.

Radio receivers

Perhaps the most successful direction in Soviet electronics. I recall with nostalgia such examples from the Soviet industry as VEF, Spidola, Riga (all from the Baltic states), and Ocean-205 has been operating for more than thirty years! You say: "Aha! Here it is! So it was not all so sad!" Alas, everything was sad. We had successful receivers only because they did not require modern radio components, it was possible to "mold from what was" without loss of quality.
I still remember the Ishim radio with respect. Such a hefty metal box! Its main advantage was that it received bands that were inaccessible to conventional receivers. Simply put, you could listen to Voice of America without jammers. But Ishim was an industrial successor, if not a military one. It was not sold in stores. You could only steal.

Vinyl players

Most probably forgot that the main problem with Soviet turntables was that they "burned" discs. Around 1980, Soviet industry found a solution - they began to buy the entire mechanism in Poland. That is, it turned out to be a Polish turntable "Unitra" in a Soviet wooden case and with a Soviet proofreader. This miracle was called "Vega-106". A characteristic feature: when playing a disc, it was possible to walk around the room only on tiptoe, since from each careless step the needle began to jump on the plate.

By the end of perestroika, somewhere in 1988, NPO Novosibirsk distinguished itself and began to produce worthy turntables "Electronics". They had good mechanics and completely lacked electrolytic capacitors made in Yerevan. But this is almost the only case when Soviet technology came close to world standards.

Tape recorders

That's where the nostalgia for scoop fans is. And after all, there were decent devices. I still feel nostalgic for "Comet-202", I am simply touched at the sight of "Notes-M" (my copy fell from the third floor, tree branches slowed down the fall, and after that I continued to work for many more years), I respectfully recall "Timbre" ... However, I hasten to upset you. "Timbre" was still a professional tape recorder, and ordinary scoops couldn't buy it. The other tape recorders listed above are vacuum tubes. That is, more or less good "lick" from the West, we could only when allowed, damn it, the element base. Next came mostly rubbish. There were successful glimpses, for example, the ugly but rather reliable Rostov-102, the cute Astra-110 (there was also an Astra-111, but I haven't seen it in stores, only in the picture). Yes, perhaps that's all.

But what about Olympus? - you ask. What can I say ... "Olympus" were at many of my friends. And there were also eternal problems: non-identical sound in the channels, failure of the control system (remember one microcircuit in Japanese devices?), Eternal clogging of heads with dirt. And the point here is not at all in the Soviet tape. I bought myself "AKAI 636" here. The tape recorder is 20 years old. I put in a Soviet reel, then another, then a third ... And what is strange, the head does not clog, the tape drive mechanism is generally clean, the dirt from the tape spills only onto the shelf in front of the tape recorder. So it's not just the film.

As for Soviet electronics, I think you understand everything. With rare exceptions, nothing good was produced in the USSR.

Audio cassettes in the USSR. How it was…

The appearance of audio cassettes and cassette tape recorders in the USSR happened when I was a teenager. So, it seemed, quite recently, I was saving on school lunches in order to buy an extra reel of tape tape, when audio cassettes and portable battery-powered cassette recorders burst into the Soviet music market.
Philophonists, owners of good stationary reel-to-reel tape recorders, looked at cassettes with contempt. This was a clear step back in terms of sound quality. But portable reels, for example, such as "Orbit-1", "Comet-206", etc., were buried overnight. And rightly so - they brought their owners more anxiety than pleasure.

It's funny, but really high-quality portable cassette players never appeared in the Soviet industry. There were good brands that customers were after. First of all, it is, of course, the line of "Vesna" cassettes. For their money, they gave a decent sound in its class and pretty good reliability. Later, good clones of "Spring" appeared, such as "Rhythm" and especially "Sonata". The "Electronics" line was also appreciated for reliability, but how many I have never seen, they all suffered from a dull sound when recording. However, we are not talking about tape recorders, but about cassettes.

On the territory of Sovka, one brand of audiocassettes ruled - these are the Order of Lenin, the Sutuly medals, the famous MK-60 cassettes. The name was deciphered unpretentiously - a tape cassette with a duration of 60 minutes. They were made on the basis of iron oxide, and their quality left much to be desired. They cost 4 rubles for one cassette. Occasionally there were chrome-based cassettes, they were of a noticeably higher quality and more expensive. However, the price did not play a role here, since I had to hold them in my hands, and even make records on them a couple of times at the request of the happy owners of these cassettes, but I have never met them on sale.

RUNNING FOR HAPPINESS

However, I had to run around for ordinary MK-60 audiocassettes, they were sold freely in Soviet stores for a short time. When I bought my first cassette player, very quickly I began to miss that single cassette that came with the recorder. I got out in the following way: during the week I went to the opening of the shopping center, and when the doors of the store opened, I ran to the counter.
Here it should be explained why by running. The fact is that in the USSR there was not enough goods for everyone; accordingly, the deficit gave rise to corruption (and universal) in the sphere of trade. Remember Dima Semitsvetov from the film "Beware of the Car", his role was brilliantly played by Andrei Mironov. This Dima earned by reselling the deficit. In the film, this is shown in a simplified way, but approximately the way it was. When the goods arrived at the store's warehouse, the management of the store and the merchandiser decided where to "move" a batch of goods at a higher price, for example, to resellers-speculators. The remnants, if any, were shared by the sellers - the lower level of the corruption chain. As for the cassettes, the directors and commodity experts disdained such a trifle, the sellers did not take so much for themselves (only to all relatives and friends), just not enough audiocassettes were made. And nevertheless, something got to the buyers.
So!
1. Cassettes were not brought to the store every day.
2. Most of the Soviet citizens were waiting for the opening in the hope of getting hold of something more serious, for example, a color TV of a popular brand.
3. The doors in the store were usually opened strictly synchronously, so the defense must be kept at the door that is closer to the department where audio tapes are sold.
4. You have to run fast.
This time I was lucky, I ran about tenth. Therefore, for all the available 20 rubles, I bought five brand new MK-60 audiocassettes produced by Svema.

The cassettes did not last long with me. Either the clips in the cassettes were crooked, or the tape was cut unevenly ... in general, after one or the other listening, the tape jammed in them. The cassettes had to be "kneaded", tapped, but this did not always help. The solution was found as follows: the cassettes were disassembled (more precisely, they were broken along, since the Soviet industry glued the halves of the audio cassettes, and did not twist them with bolts, as is customary throughout the world), small plates were inserted on the sides to increase the thickness of the cassettes, and then the audio cassettes were glued together with insulating tape. Such a cassette looked creepy, but for some time it still worked.

But this did not exhaust the poor quality of Soviet audio cassettes. The film in the cassettes often “crumbled”, that is, the working layer crumbled, clogged the heads. The cassette began to creak. Often the audio cassette clamping mechanism was deformed or fell off altogether. Then they tried to do it on their own, and sometimes they just stuffed cotton wool instead.

UNMAGNET ANNA HERMAN

The most important inconvenience of cassettes made in the USSR is that they were 60 minutes long, while music albums usually sounded 45 minutes, sometimes 90 minutes. To put it simply, 60-minute cassettes did not fit the required recordings in any way. And if you consider that they were also in short supply ...

Fortunately, ready-made cassettes with a recording were still on sale in the USSR. Not the ones that could be bought in the recording studios, but the ones that were sold in the store. These are MK-44 cassettes. Duration - 44 minutes. Usually the same songs were recorded on them, which could be freely purchased on gramophone records, but cheaper. And these cassettes themselves, due to the recording, were more expensive than similar blank cassettes.

What did you have to do? And it is very simple - in the absence of normal audio cassettes, these very cassettes with the recording were bought, the original phonogram was erased, and what was needed was overwritten. These tapes were almost always on sale, as they were reluctant to take due to their relatively high price (meaning per minute of recording). These cassettes had one more plus - they almost never jammed in tape recorders, apparently because they used less tape, or the tape was thicker.
It was all so Soviet-style: to make a cassette, record music on it, make at least tolerable polygraphy for it with a list of songs and put it on sale, so that then the recording would be erased, and the list of songs was crossed out. This is how the recordings of Anna German, Lev Leshchenko and numerous vocal and instrumental ensembles were recorded and then demagnetized en masse.

THANKS TO THE POLES FOR OUR HAPPY YOUTH

One fine day, the incredible happened - almost overnight, imported audio cassettes appeared in the stores of the USSR. And what a lot! The ninety-minute Soneks and Denons were full of shelves. At first they were bought in whole blocks! They recorded only the most dear and close to the heart of a Soviet citizen - foreign music and Russian underground rogue. And then the Soviet MK-60s simply "died" for us. They stopped buying them. Absolutely. When we realized that Japanese audio tapes were serious and for a long time. Before that, imported audio cassettes could only be bought from speculators at 25 rubles per cassette. Now these cassettes were sold freely for 9 rubles. It turned out that it is easy to fight against speculators, you just need to defeat the deficit.

Where did these audiotapes come from on the territory of the USSR, and even in such quantities? Oddly enough, on this occasion I heard not a lot of rumors, as is usually the case, but only one, but from a variety of sources. And you know, I'm inclined to believe him, I think that it was so. Although, let everyone draw a conclusion for themselves on their own. And the rumor was like that.

Poland has traditionally bought imported goods and in large quantities. But then the Solidarity trade union appeared, strikes swept across the country, which significantly undermined the country's economy. And then Poland turned to the leadership of the Soviet Union: “We have signed a bunch of contracts here, we ordered imported goods, but after all this we are not able to pay. Buy out our contracts. " And the USSR helped fraternal socialist Poland. And a stream of imports poured into our Motherland, including audio cassettes. I still remember the rows of American cigarettes in every grocery store. There are piles of imported audio tapes in music stores, for which there is no queue !!! Eight types of branded jeans in a haberdashery store and a stunned look from a saleswoman, as if saying: “How so? For what? How to live without a deficit? " It can be understood, it was more difficult and more prestigious to enter a trade institute than to any technical university.
This is how the Polish proletariat fought for the happiness of Soviet people.
