The procedure for writing typed text to a computer is called “Saving”. Thanks to her, we add a document to the Local Disk, to Documents, to the Desktop and to other computer places.

Saving in Word- this is when, with the help of some actions, we make a file from the printed text (document), which can then be opened on a computer, written to a disk, to a USB flash drive, or sent over the Internet.

Let's say I need to print a lot of text. In one day, I definitely will not manage. So I typed some text and decided to continue typing tomorrow. In order for this to be possible, I need to write down my partially finished document, that is, save it to my computer. Having made a save, tomorrow I can open the printed text and continue working from where I left off.

How Wrong to Save

Many people do not save the document while they work, but do it at the end. The fact is that when you try to close the Word program, having already typed something in it, a window pops up in which the computer "asks" whether to save the changes.

If you click on the "Yes" button, the computer will open a new window where you need to select a place for the document, give it a name and click the "Save" button.

By clicking on the "No" button, the computer will close the Word program along with the text, and you will no longer be able to open it. That is, the text will disappear irrevocably. And if you click on the "Cancel" button, the computer will leave Word open along with the typed text. Thus, the program gives you the opportunity to correct something, change the text.

But it's better to save it in another way. And not at the very end of the work on the document, but from time to time. The fact is that there is a possibility of losing the document. For example, an electrical surge or a computer freeze. If this happens suddenly, your text may not be saved on your computer. This means you will lose it. By the way, this applies not only to Word, but also to any other computer program (Paint, Excel, Photoshop, etc.).

How to save the document (text) correctly

If you work in the modern version of Word (2007-2010), then instead of "File" you will have a round button with a picture (colored squares) inside.

By clicking on this button, a window will open. In it we are interested in the item "Save as ...".

Click on it. A new window will open. In it, the computer prompts you to select a location to save.

Pay attention to the top of this window. The location where the computer is "going" to save the document is already indicated here.

In the example in the picture, the computer offers to save the text in the "Documents" folder. But it is better to burn it to some Local disk, for example, on D. To do this, in the window you need to select "Computer" ("My Computer") on the left side.

After that, inside the window (in its white part), open the required Local Disk, that is, double-click on it with the left mouse button.

If you want to put a document in a folder, open it in the same window (double-click on it with the left mouse button).

After you have chosen the place where you want to save the document, you need to pay attention to the lower part of the window. More precisely, to the item "File name". This part contains the title under which the document will be recorded in the computer. In the example in the picture, this name is "Doc1". If it doesn't suit us, then we need to delete it and print a new, suitable name.

And now for the final touch. In order to save the document, you need to click the "Save" button.

The window will disappear - and this will mean that the text has been written to the specified location.

Now you can close the program and try to find the saved document on your computer in the place where you saved it. There should be a file with the name you typed or the standard name "Doc1" (Document 1).

When you type text (compose a document), it is better to save it from time to time. We typed a paragraph or two and saved it. There is a special button for this at the top of the program.

By clicking on it, the document will be overwritten. That is, the one you have already saved will be replaced by a new one.

The point is that sometimes the computer can freeze. Or they may suddenly turn off the electricity. In such situations, it is highly likely that the unsaved document will be lost.

Hello, friends! As you know, on Vkontakte, you can add videos and photos to the page, etc., then all your friends and account guests will see information of interest to you. But that's not all. You can send a photo or video to a person and a personal message. This is done using the "Attachments" button. This is where the item "Documents" is of interest to us.

And now we will figure out where to find documents on our Vkontakte page, how to send them to another user, including a photo, how to add the desired file from your device, computer, laptop, phone or tablet to your profile and how to remove unnecessary docks from a page or from a dialog.
But let's talk about everything in order. Since the article turned out to be informative, you can use the content to quickly jump to the information you are interested in.

Where to find documents

If you enter your profile from a computer or laptop, then in order to go to viewing the docks that are on your page, you need to select the appropriate item in the right side menu.

If the line "Documents" is not there, then hover over any other item and click on the gear that appears.

The "Customize Menu Items" window opens. In it, on the "Basic" tab, opposite the "Documents" line, you need to check the box and click "Save".

When you open the desired page, on the right side you will see a small menu. In order to quickly find the required file, for example, you know its name, use the search.

Using the search, you can see the docks of other users, if they add them to their profile not as personal.

How to download

If you need to add a document to your Vkontakte profile, then open the page with the entire list, as described above. Then click on the "Add ...." button.

As you can see, there are restrictions on the size of the added file - no more than 200 MB. Many formats are supported, so you can add a Word file to VK (* .doc, * .docx), an e-book (* .pdf, * .fb2, * .djvu), a file saved in Photoshop (*. Psd) and much other.

Now you can change the name. You also need to indicate with a marker this will be your "Personal Document", that is, it will not be seen by other users, or you can make it available through a search.

For example, I add information about hotkeys to Word. I will make the information open - you need to put a marker in front of "Educational document", and indicate the labels: hot keys, abstract, MS Word, Word. If a person searches for something like that, he may see my work in the results.

The required dock will be added to your profile.

Sometimes there is an opportunity to send a document. Is it possible to do this through Vkontakte correspondence? Yes you can. There are, however, some limitations. But they can be circumvented. I'll show you now how to send a file to VK.

Electronic mail is used not only for sending messages, but also for sending files (documents, photographs, etc.). They are called nested or attached.

Nested or attached file(attachment) is some kind of file from a computer that we add to a letter for sending it by e-mail.

How to attach a file to an email and send it

Let's say I want a document on my computer to be on my colleague’s computer. I know his email address, which means I can write a letter from my mailbox and attach a file to it.

When a colleague goes to his mail, he will see a new message, inside which there will be a document. He can open it directly in the mail or download it to his computer.

The file transfer technology is as follows:

  1. We open our email box.
  2. We write a letter: we indicate the recipient's mail address, subject and, if necessary, print the message.
  3. We press a special button to add a file.
  4. In the window that opens, select the file from the computer.
  5. We send the letter by clicking on the corresponding button.

Example

1. I open my e-mail box and click on the button for writing a letter.

Yandex Mail: Mail.ru: Gmail.com:

2. I type the address of the person to whom I want to send the file, and indicate the subject.

You don't have to type the text, because I only need to send the file. But I usually type it: I say hello, explain what I am sending and why.

3. To attach a file, I click on the special button above or below (above or below the part for entering text).

Yandex Mail: Mail.ru: Gmail.com:

4. A small window opens with files and folders on my computer. In it I have to find what I want to send.

Let's say I need to forward a document that is located on my computer in Local D drive in the Contracts folder. So, in the window I open the Local drive D:

And I open the Contracts folder:

The files that are in this folder are shown. I find among them the one that I want to send, and I double-click on it with the left mouse button.

The window disappears, and my document appears above or below the attach button.

in Yandex.Mail:

in Mail.ru:

at Gmail.com:

5. To send a letter, I click on the "Send" button.

in Yandex.Mail: in Mail.ru: at Gmail.com:

Immediately after that, my message with the attached document will go to the specified address. This is how the recipient will see it:

Notice the paperclip icon at the end. Thus, the mail site shows that there is an attached file inside.

Having opened the letter, the recipient will see both the text and the document, which he can view or download to his computer.

How to add multiple files to an email

You can add several files of any type to one letter. It can be photos, documents, music and even videos.

To do this, it is not at all necessary to send several letters - you can write one and add to it everything that we want to send. It happens like this: we write a letter, add one file to it, then, in the same way, another, a third, and so on.

But what if there are not one or two, but more than ten? Can I add an entire folder instead of each file separately?

Unfortunately, you cannot email the folder. But it can be archived and attached to the letter.

This can be done right in the window through which we add the file to send. Right-click on the folder, select 7-Zip or WinRAR from the list and create an archive.

Then, in the same place, we select the newly created archive, that is, we double-click on it with the left mouse button.

The archive containing the folder required for forwarding is attached to the letter. It only remains to send it.

Nuances

If you plan to send more than three files in one letter, then it is considered good practice to archive them.

For example, I want to send ten photographs to a friend. You can, of course, send ten letters, in each of which add a photo. But this is inconvenient neither for me, nor, even more so, for him. Therefore, I decide to send one letter to which I attach all the photos.

In this case, it would be more correct to put them in a hotel folder on the computer itself, then archive it and add the resulting archive when sending a letter.

As a result, one file will be sent, not ten. It will be easier for my friend to download and unzip it than to watch (download) each photo separately.

Compress (downsize) your photos before e-mailing them.

This is more than a rule of good form. This is a must! But, unfortunately, many users do not even know about it.

You will learn more about why this is needed and how to do it in the lesson "Compressing a Photo".

The task

  1. Send a letter from your e-mail with an attached file to your own address. That is, in the "To" field, type your email address. After sending you will receive from yourself the same letter with this attached file.
  2. Open your letter and try to view the sent file directly in the mail. Then download it to your computer and open it directly from it.
  3. Send letters to your address with several attached files (both individually and zipped).
  4. Try sending photos after compressing them.

If you need to transfer any file to your friend or work colleague, you do not need to use e-mail for this, you can use VK, which supports the transfer of files and documents.

What are we doing? First of all, go to "My Settings" and in the "General" tab put a tick next to the "Documents" item so that it will be displayed in the menu.

We look in the menu and see the same item "Documents":

Click on it.

There may already be a list of your documents that you have uploaded or saved from VKontakte. To add a document, click on the button of the same name:

A window will appear. There you will see file size limits and a list of supported files, including doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, rtf, pdf, png, jpg, gif, psd, djvu, fb2, ps, etc. Click on the "Select File" button.

Select the file on your computer and download it. After downloading, select its type (personal, educational, book, other), check the boxes if necessary and click "Save".

File downloaded.

Now we write a message to a friend. Then click on the "Attach" button and select the "Document" item.

You must select a file that is already in your list of documents.

As you can see, it has attached itself to the post.

You are sending a message. This is how the user sees it:
