Recently, the number of programs in the Azerbaijani language has increased significantly, which is associated with the launch of Azerspace 46, produced in February 2013. More than a million representatives of the nationality live in Moscow and the Moscow region. Installing a satellite dish will help keep abreast of events, news of the Motherland, maintain language and traditions.

Southerly visibility is required when connecting a satellite. Tall buildings and trees near windows may obstruct reception. In this case, installation is carried out on the roof.

In Moscow, access to the roof is agreed with the organization serving the house. It is much easier to install an antenna in a private and country house: the dish can be mounted both from the building window and on the roof.

Popular channels in Azerbaijani

  1. ... Reception of all major programs of Azerbaijan. No monthly fee. An antenna with a diameter of 90-120cm is required. For equipment with smaller diameters, the signal will be weak, unstable. Georgian channels will also be available to subscribers.
  2. ... Only one. A plate with a diameter of 90-120cm is required. Subscribers will also be able to watch a large number of European, Asian, African programs.

Satellite equipment

Azerbaijani television from satellite is received on the equipment:

  • Antenna d = 0.9-1.2m
  • Linear polarization converter
  • Console
  • TV cable
  • Connectors

Correctly selected antenna diameter affects signal stability. The larger the size, the more stable, reliable signal you can get. The signal from the satellite weakens in bad weather conditions, with small antennas, problems can arise: falling asleep, disappearing of the picture. The equipment also differs in material of manufacture, color. The most affordable are steel antennas, but they are also the most short-lived. Steel quickly corrodes, the plate will soon have to be changed. Aluminum antennas are more reliable and durable, but they cost more.

All programs are broadcasted in open form, without a monthly fee. Almost any satellite receiver is suitable for connection. Budget models work in MPEG2 format, more expensive ones support MPEG4 format, accept HDTV. There are still few Azerbaijani programs in HD on satellites, but television is constantly developing, in the near future the number of digital HD channels will increase.

Information about the broadcasting of Azerbaijan in Russian as part of our dossier on international broadcasting different countries the world in Russian.

Having oil money, Azerbaijan is well represented on the most popular satellite in Europe Eutelsat HotBird 13.0 gr. E. There, four Azerbaijani TV channels AZ TV, Ictimai Televiziya, CBC, Lider TV, as well as the Azerbaijani state radio Radio Respublika, are broadcasting in unencrypted form at once.

The HotBird satellite is the optimal way (with the exception of Internet broadcasting) for foreign viewers to receive Azerbaijani broadcasts throughout Europe, the European part of Russia, in the Caucasian and Caspian states. Note that all these channels (like all other Azerbaijani TV and radio channels) are on the Azerbaijani national satellite AzerSpace 1 46.0 gr. E, from where they are also received in uncoded form by the internal audience in Azerbaijan. But if you want to watch all Azerbaijani broadcasts, and know the Azerbaijani language, then, of course, you need to tune not to HotBird, but to AzerSpace (Although it would be much more convenient for such a viewer to receive Azerbaijani TV from the Turkish satellite Türksat 42.0 gr. E - everything is present there Turkish television and radio broadcasting in the open - and Turks and Azerbaijanis understand each other without an interpreter, but after the government launched their national satellite AzerSpace 1 in Baku a year ago, Azerbaijani TV channels switched from Türksat to their satellite, and now the audience in Azerbaijan (to catch both Turkish and her own) is forced to tune in to both Turkish and Azerbaijani satellites at the same time - fortunately, they are located nearby, and one "plate" is enough).

Azerbaijan's main state television channel AZ TV is the successor to the first republican program of Az. SSR - offers news releases in Russian on weekdays at 18:00 local time (Baku time is one hour ahead of Moscow winter time, or UTC +4 hours).

Video: A sample of one of the newscasts in Russian AZ TV dated May 22, 2013 (from the archive):

For 6 minutes. 24 sec. This news release broadcasts a story about a Polish national TV show about Azerbaijan, which discusses the version of the origin of the country's name - "Azerbaijan".

The channel's message says:

“A stable income in the country has been achieved thanks to its rich oil and gas fields, and Azerbaijan is the only territory in the world where in some places you can see the fire bursting out of the ground. An important fact confirming how rich Azerbaijan is in natural resources is the existence of a place called Yanardag ("burning mountain"), where natural gas burns and goes out continuously. At one time, there were even more such places, but as a result of the use of raw gas, only one remained, which is why this place is protected.

Azerbaijan was proud of this blazing fire for thousands of years, and hence its name "the country of fires". According to Azerbaijani historian Rizvan Huseynov, now very few people dispute this version of the origin of the name.

The first part of the country's name “azər” also means “fire”.

Noting the existence of many legends associated with fire in Azerbaijan, Rizvan Huseynov recalls that for centuries the "land of fires" has helped ships heading to the Caspian coast to choose the right path for centuries. Sometimes fire in Azerbaijan could be seen even in water. The local population has never been afraid of fire continuously burning from the ground. A local resident, an elderly woman, tells in an interview to a reporter that at a time when there was no electricity, people cooked on this natural fire, and the army even set up camps here, ”the station reported.

You can watch AZ TV live on the broadcaster's website: aztv.az/canli/aztv-canli.htm(there is no video archive on the site yet).

Also, the release of TV news in Russian at the same time offers a semi-state, the so-called. "Public Television of Azerbaijan" - Ictimai Televiziya (it was launched in 2005 so that Azerbaijan could join the European Broadcasting Union by presenting public service broadcasting).

Azerbaijan's state radio Radio Respublika broadcasts a short news release in Russian at 15:00 local time (Baku time is one hour ahead of Moscow winter time, or UTC +4 hours).

You can listen to live Azerbaijan radio here: aztv.az/canli/radio-canli-yayim.htm(there is no program archive yet)

Note that AZ TV, Ictimai Televiziya and Radio Respublika, with the exception of the above-mentioned short inserts in Russian, broadcast almost exclusively in Azerbaijani.

News releases of the above three broadcasters are boring and semi-official, they mainly cover the activities of President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban and even the children of the married couple, as well as glorify the memory of the "national leader" Heydar Aliyev, the father of the current president.

The Caspian Broadcasting Company (CBC) TV channel seems to be more interesting. CBC is a semi-state Azeri overseas television broadcasting news program in English, Russian, Persian, Armenian and Azeri. Initially, these issues were published according to the Euronews model (i.e., without a presenter in the frame), but since 2014 they have been expanded. Caspian Broadcasting Company news releases, unlike AZ TV, broadly cover the situation in the Caspian region and more scathingly criticize neighbors - for example, Iran or Armenia. In general, the Caspian Broadcasting Company says what they think about the international situation of the authorities in Baku, but which they would not like to say on state television. The Caspian Broadcasting Company is financed by the national state oil corporation of Azerbaijan SOCAR. Note that earlier the Caspian Broadcasting Company was called ATV International, because on instructions from the authorities, it launched (in 2009) and was operated by the commercial television channel Azad Azərbaycan TV.

As of February 2015, 15-minute news bulletins in Russian by Caspian Broadcasting Company are aired on weekdays at 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00 Baku time; on Saturdays, the Russian-language edition is canceled at 4 pm, but at 6 pm, a half-hour review of the week's events is published in Russian. Note that there are no news bulletins on Sundays (Let us remind you that Baku time is one hour ahead of Moscow winter time, i.e. UTC +4 hours).

Video: A sample of one of the news bulletins in Russian by Caspian Broadcasting Company dated June 1, 2013:

From this CBS Newsletter (taped from the 50th second):

“Azerbaijan is ready to restore its territorial integrity by any means. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev declared about the readiness of Azerbaijan for the forceful liberation of its lands, speaking at a reception on the occasion of the Republic Day. “In reality, the choice here is not so great: either the military path, or the peaceful one. We are ready for both options. And they have never ruled out the military path, ”the head of the Azerbaijani state said.

According to him, international law, the UN Charter recognizes Azerbaijan's right to self-defense and to conduct at any time any operation on the territory recognized by the world community as Azerbaijan. The Nagorno-Karabakh issue is the top priority, the most basic issue ...

“Today the population of Azerbaijan is approaching nine and a half million people, while less than two million people live in Armenia,” Ilham Aliyev said. The President noted that if this trend continues, then in five to seven years the population of Azerbaijan will exceed the population of Armenia ten times. “According to the official statistics of Armenia, every year 80-100 thousand people leave this country forever, we will keep and keep Armenia in isolation, and we must use all opportunities to further achieve the growth of our potential, including in the military sphere. Today, the Azerbaijani army is the most powerful army in the South Caucasus, "the head of the Azerbaijani state said," the station reported. .

Video: And another sample of one of the news releases in Russian by the Caspian Broadcasting Company dated January 27. 2015:

For 9 minutes. 50 sec. This news release provides an interesting overview of what Azerbaijan calls "Armenia's appropriation of everything Caucasian", the report of the release tells about "new scenarios for how Armenia tries to appropriate the culture of neighboring Caucasian peoples and countries" - in particular, "declare Azerbaijani dishes Armenian." , for example, lavash, or “to assign the Azerbaijani dance to the Uzundera”. The Caspian Broadcasting Company also states in this story: “Other states, very far from the history of the Caucasian peoples, help Armenia in its theft and plagiarism,” citing as an example an incident that occurred in one of the programs on Russian television, the station broadcast.

You can watch the live broadcast of the Caspian Broadcasting Company, including Russian broadcasting, on the channel's website at cbc.az/ru/live (this new site is in test mode). And also, as well as the main TV channel of Azerbaijan - AZ TV, which has already been mentioned - and on AzerSpace satellites 1 46.0 gr. E and Eutelsat HotBird 13.0 gr. E. Archive of Caspian Broadcasting Company programs, including full news releases, is available at cbc.az/ru/video/vse-video

In between the news, Caspian Broadcasting Company shows high-quality Western films in the original language - English, or with Russian translation, as well as documentaries about Azerbaijan in Russian or English.

Azerbaijani radio broadcasting in foreign languages for abroad "Voice of Azerbaijan" - Voice of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan radio broadcasting on foreign languages for abroad, then known as Radio Baku, first went on the air on July 20, 1941, and regular broadcasts began on August 18, 1941. At that time, the Azerbaijani foreign broadcasting produced two short radio programs "Baku Says!" respectively in Turkish "Burası Bakı" and Persian (Farsi) - "Inco Baku!" (in addition to the central programs in these languages, which were produced by Radio Moscow).

In 1951, an hour-long daily radio program was broadcast in Azerbaijani for the Diaspora. Since 1959, Radio Baku began broadcasting in Arabic. The programs continued in both Persian and Turkish. By the 1980s. the volume of foreign broadcasting from Baku was about six hours a day, of which two hours in Turkish, two hours and fifteen minutes in Arabic, one hour in Azerbaijani for the diaspora.

By the time of the collapse of the USSR, Arabic broadcasts from Baku were reduced to an hour, apparently in order to increase the broadcasting time for the diaspora, which was done. Radio Baku's foreign broadcasts were broadcasted on short waves. For example, in 1968 the frequency of 9840 kHz in the range of 31 meters was used for the international broadcasting of Radio Baku.

Here is a page from the 1970 WRTH World Broadcasting Directory. On the page we see the then schedule of the international broadcasting of the Azerbaijan SSR - "Radio Baku" (the time in the schedule indicates Greenwich, or otherwise World, it is less than Moscow by three hours).

As we can see, the Azerbaijani foreign broadcasting that year broadcast programs in the languages familiar for its Soviet period - in Azerbaijani (for the diaspora), Turkish, Arabic and Persian.

The WRTH directory on this page even lists the notes of the call sign of the international broadcasting "Radio Baku".

At the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan had, according to the transmitter.be database, three shortwave transmitters, which were located in a relay center in the city of Ganja (Gəncə́), in the middle part of the Azerbaijan SSR: two of these transmitters were 100-kilowatt and one was 170-kilowatt. kilowatt. It should be noted that this was not a very powerful relay center for international broadcasting, especially compared to the shortwave center in neighboring Soviet Armenia, where there were even 1000-kilowatt shortwave transmitters. Yes, and the broadcast center in Ganja was conceived during the Soviet period as a regional one for broadcasting from Azerbaijan to neighboring Turkey, Iran and the nearest Arab countries. Therefore, it is not surprising that the radio broadcasting of Azerbaijan, which became independent, was very poorly heard in Europe.

So, on November 26, 1992, within the framework of the TV and radio broadcasting of independent Azerbaijan, instead of the editorial office of the foreign broadcasting Radio Baku, the Azerbaijan International Radio (Azərbaycan Beynəlxalq Radiosu) was established. The station began to operate under the call sign "Voice of Azerbaijan".

Since 1992, the "Voice of Azerbaijan" began broadcasting in English, German, French, Russian, Armenian, Talysh (the language of the Iranian-speaking people living in Iran and Azerbaijan), Kurdish, Lezgin, Georgian (while broadcasts continued in Arabic, Turkish, Farsi and Azerbaijani for the diaspora) - with general broadcast foreign broadcasting programs up to ten hours a day on short wave and one medium wave frequency.

1992-1998 radio "Voice of Azerbaijan" was also referred to as "Radio Dada Gorgud", using the double name of Radio Dada Gorgud - Voice of Azerbaijan. Gorgud, also Korkut or Korkyt, is a legendary Turkic songwriter and storyteller of the 9th century, a native of the steppes along the Syr Darya River, and the author of an epic about the life of the Turks of that time.

Since 2007, the broadcasts of the radio "Voice of Azerbaijan" in English, German and French have been canceled, which was done, apparently, because short waves finally lost popularity with a wide international audience, and with this in mind, the "Voice of Azerbaijan" clearly decided to focus on broadcasting on medium waves only for the adjacent countries and in their languages. And for broadcasting to a global audience, Azerbaijan chose more modern and popular methods of foreign broadcasting, such as satellite TV, two years later creating an international channel in five languages - Caspian Broadcasting Company (CBC), as mentioned above. Moreover, the existing rather weak transmitting capacities of the Voice of Azerbaijan radio could not reach other continents, and it was most likely recognized as inexpedient to modernize these capacities, otherwise the Azerbaijani leadership with the oil revenues of this country could easily purchase the most powerful radio transmitters.

After the radio "Voice of Azerbaijan" refused to broadcast in Western European languages, the station began broadcasting five hours of programs in Azerbaijani for the Diaspora every day, programs in Russian, Armenian, Farsi, Turkish and Arabic were broadcast for an hour. In addition, three times a week, twenty-minute programs were broadcast in Georgian and, twice a week, fifteen-minute programs in Kurdish and Lezgi. And, finally, a special half-hour program “Motherland” (“Vətən”) aired daily for listeners in Nagorno-Karabakh, now occupied by Armenia, and during the Soviet period belonged to the Azerbaijan SSR. The program "Homeland" ("Vətən") was broadcast in equal proportions in the Azerbaijani and Armenian languages.

As of February 2015, this broadcasting network of Radio Voice of Azerbaijan has changed little. So at 3 pm Baku time the program is broadcast in Farsi, at 4 pm - in Turkish, at 5 pm there is a half-hour program "Motherland" ("Vətən") in Azerbaijani and Armenian languages, repeated in the second half of the hour. At 18:00 Baku time, the Azerbaijani-language block begins, and at 21:00 - an hour-long broadcast in Arabic. And finally, at 10 pm Baku time, the Voice of Azerbaijan radio broadcasts a daily half-hour program in Russian. The broadcast in Russian is the last program of the day of the Voice of Azerbaijan radio, and at the end of it the anthem of Azerbaijan is played. The station is silent until half past nine in the morning Baku time, when a new Azerbaijani-language block begins. It should be reminded that Baku time is one hour ahead of Moscow winter time, or UTC +4 hours.

In Baku and Azerbaijan, the "Voice of Azerbaijan" radio can be received at a medium-wave frequency of 1296 kHz via a 125-kilowatt transmitter in the Azerbaijani town of Pirsaat / Pirsagat, which is 28 kilometers from the coast of the Caspian Sea and 73 kilometers south-west of Baku. Note that this transmitter is rather low-powered and does not listen too well even in Baku (Update 2018: "Voice of Azerbaijan" no longer broadcasts on medium waves - it has left its medium wave frequency of 1296 kHz. Thus, after the abandonment of medium waves, and earlier from short ones, Azerbaijani foreign broadcasting, including Russian, no longer conducts analogue broadcasting at all, but only digital - live broadcasting was added to satellite broadcasting through the website of Azerbaijani television and radio aztv .az / canli / radio-canli-yayim.htm On the site, select the Radio INT program. In addition, after choosing a program, you can listen to the programs recorded for the previous day by selecting the corresponding time at the bottom of the mentioned page of the site.

In 1994, the Voice of Azerbaijan reportedly used shortwave frequencies of 7160 kHz and 15240 kHz for its programs to Europe. And in the 2000s, for all programs - shortwave frequencies 6110 kHz and 9165 kHz. At the same time, only one of the frequencies was always used at a time and a 170-kilowatt short-wave transmitter in Ganja was used. Now, it seems that the entire "Voice of Azerbaijan" program is broadcast on a medium-wave frequency of 1296 kHz, but not on short-wave frequencies. However, the 1296 kHz frequency should not be recommended for reception outside Azerbaijan due to poor audibility.

In addition to the possibility of receiving on the Internet, for reception with excellent quality of the Voice of Azerbaijan radio abroad, it is recommended to use the broadcasting of the station on the Azerbaijani satellite AzerSpace 1 46.0 gr. E. The corresponding radio channel is registered there as Voice of Azerbaijan. On the Internet, all programs of the radio "Voice of Azerbaijan" can be listened to live on the page mediabay.tv/channels/radioStations/212-VoiceofAzerbaijanAZ Note that the site mediabay.tv is a resource that, with the consent of broadcasters, rebroadcasts on the Internet TV and radio programs of a number of Central Asian stations and the Caucasus (it should be especially noted that due to site failures, interruptions in relaying are possible). As far as can be judged, mediabay.tv receives broadcasting of the radio "Voice of Azerbaijan" from the AzerSpace satellite 1 46.0 gr. E .. The Russian program, we recall, goes on the "Voice of Azerbaijan" radio channel at 22:00 Baku time, which corresponds to 21:00 Moscow time. Radio "Voice of Azerbaijan" does not have its own website as of February 2015.

In our audio file number 1 you can hear the beginning of the program in Russian from 21/02/2015 of the radio station "Voice of Azerbaijan":

  • audio file # 1

The callsign follows. The station's call sign represents the bars of the overture to the opera “Koroghlu” (about it, see the main text of this review);

Then there is a fragment of the Russian-language news of the radio station about the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the fact that "the Azerbaijani people will prosper, having excellent youth, leading a correct policy led by a wise ruler, and will return Karabakh, Khojaly and all the occupied territories" (6 min. 37 sec. Recording);

At the end of the recording - an announcement in Azerbaijani about the end of the program of the day of the "Voice of Azerbaijan" radio station and the final call sign of the station from the overture to the opera "Koroglu", and then the anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan - "March of Azerbaijan". By the way, by the same author as the opera "Koroghly" (for more details, see also the main text of this review).

The call sign of the "Voice of Azerbaijan" radio station is the overture to the opera "Koroglu" by the Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov (years of life: 1885-1948), which was written in 1932-1936. and delivered for the first time in Baku in 1937.

Written in the style of the traditional Azerbaijani mugham opera, this work is based on the old Azerbaijani epic of the same name, and tells about the struggle of a certain son of the khan's groom named Koroglu (literally "Son of the Blind"), who takes revenge on the local ruler Hasan Khan for blinding his father, who was deprived of view for allegedly serving the khan badly.

The author of the opera Uzeyir Hajibeyov also became famous for being the composer of three anthems of Azerbaijan at once: "March of Azerbaijan", written in 1919 and becoming the anthem of the first independent Azerbaijan Republic, now it is the anthem of the modern Azerbaijan Republic, and then two more hymns of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic ( AzSSR) - 1930 and 1944 Moreover, in 1930, Uzeyir Hajibeyov was also the author of the words of the anthem.

Historians are surprised how Uzeyir Hajibeyov, for his pre-revolutionary activities, managed not to be arrested under the Soviet regime, but (on the contrary) under Stalin's rule he received wide recognition for his new musical compositions, and even the Stalin Prize for the opera "Korogly" in 1941, although under Therefore, his anthem "March of Azerbaijan" was banned during all the years of Soviet power.

History of Azerbaijani radio and television

Announcement of the opening of the first broadcasting radio station in Baku in the Soviet magazine "Radio to All" (No. 2, 1927).

The magazine noted that this long-wave station had already been received even in Persia, in the city of Tehran, and the power of the station was 1.2 kW.

Radio broadcasting in Azerbaijan began in 1926... Here is what the Soviet magazine "Radio to All" wrote about the opening of radio in Baku in No. 2 for 1927:

« The broadcasting radio station in Baku began operating in October 1926but... The broadcasts take place with long breaks. In general, the results of the work turned out to be very satisfactory. The station was accepted even in Persia in the city of Tehran. The power of the station is 1.2 kHz, of the Small Comintern type, belongs to the People's Commissariat of Posts and Telegraph.

The same magazine soon (in No. 5, 1927) published a more critical note about the beginning of radio broadcasting in Azerbaijan under the title “Radio spoke”:

“Baku lagged behind in terms of radio broadcasting. There are many reasons for this. The main one is that they could not find the owner of the broadcasting station. As you know, seven nannies have a child without care. So it is with our radio station. And there were a lot of applicants for the station's ownership. They argued, but they played around: weeks and months passed in disputes until it was decided to transfer the radio station to the jurisdiction of the People's Commissariat. Only then did the regular work begin, they began to broadcast concerts, broadcast of operas, etc. ”.

Let us clarify that the first radio programs from Baku were broadcast using a RV-43 transmitter with a power of 1.2 kilowatts (it was mentioned in the above message of the Soviet edition), the transmitter worked at a frequency of 238 kHz, i.e. at a wavelength of 1260.5 meters in the long-wave range. But soon the RV-43 was replaced by a more powerful 10-kilowatt transmitter RV-8, which began to operate at the same frequency, and then at a frequency of 200 kHz, respectively, at a wave of 1500 meters long-wave range but.

The magazine "Radiolyubitel" (No. 12 for 1928) reported this as follows:

“A powerful (10 kW) station at a wavelength of 1280 meters has started operating in Baku. The station calls itself approximately in the following form: "Baku, the broadcasting center of the People's Commissariat, speaks through a powerful transmitter named" 26 "at a wavelength of 1260 meters."

Note that it was powerful, of course, by the standards of that time, and "26" is, apparently, twenty-six Baku commissars killed in 1918.

The magazine "Radio to All" in No. 5 for 1927 publishes a more critical note about the beginning of radio broadcasting in Azerbaijan under the title "Radio spoke":

“Baku lagged behind in terms of radio broadcasting. There are many reasons for this. The main one is that they could not find the owner of the radio broadcasting station ... They argued, but they played around: weeks and months passed in the disputes until it was decided to transfer the radio station to the jurisdiction of the People's Commissar. Only then began regular work, began to broadcast concerts, broadcast of operas, etc. ”.

It should be noted that the word "radio wreckers", printed on the same page of the magazine, does not refer to Baku.

From the very beginning of its work, the internal program of Radio Baku was broadcast in three languages, namely in Russian, Azerbaijani and Armenian.

Among the first programs, according to Azerbaijani sources, were the following: "Working Radio University", "Working Radio Newspaper" in Azerbaijani and Russian, "Working Noon", radio newspapers and radio magazines for peasants in Azerbaijani and Armenian languages, radio newspaper "Krasnoarmeets", "Komsomolsky Chas "," Pionerskaya Gazeta ".

In February 1956, the broadcasts of Azerbaijan TV began..

The construction of a television center in Baku began two years earlier, in 1954.

Until 1964, viewers in Azerbaijan watched exceptional local programs, but in 1964 Central Television began rebroadcasting programs from Moscow after the construction of the landline was completed. From the very beginning, television programs of the Azerbaijan SSR were also aired in three languages: Azerbaijani, Russian and Armenian.

In the last years of Soviet power, two domestic radio programs and two television programs were broadcast in Azerbaijan. The second program of the republican radio, having an informational and musical character, was called "Araz", according to the 1979 reference essay on Soviet radio and TV (note that the name "Araz", from the name of the river, also known as Araks. As of 2018 ., there is a private FM station in Azerbaijan with a similar name ArazFM 103.3, launched on April 4, 2011). Republican internal programs were broadcast in Azerbaijani, Russian and Armenian languages with the inclusion of central broadcasting programs from Moscow.

Here's another page from the 1970 WRTH World Broadcasting Directory. On the page, among other things, we see the then schedule of the internal broadcasting of the Azerbaijan SSR.

So, as you can see, two internal radio programs were broadcast in Azerbaijan. Note that the first program was a local version of the program of the All-Union Radio from Moscow in Russian with inserts of Radio Baku in Azerbaijani, Russian and Armenian.

It is interesting that, as we can see, Radio Baku broadcast not only programs in the above three languages, but also rebroadcast news in Armenian from Yerevan within the local version of the first program.

After Azerbaijan achieved independence in 1991, the TV and Radio Committee became the national state TV and radio company. Almost fifteen years later, in parallel with the state television and radio broadcasting, the so-called. "Public Television" - Ictimai Televiziya, but also controlled by the state.

In addition to state-owned, there are also a number of commercial television and radio channels in modern Azerbaijan.

All radio and TV channels of present-day Azerbaijan

According to the certificate of the Ministry of Communications and Technologies of Azerbaijan, as of 2015, 12 radio stations are broadcast in the FM range throughout the country: two radio channels owned by the state national television and radio company of Azerbaijan, namely: Radio Respublika and the radio channel of the state foreign broadcasting "Voice of Azerbaijan" on the middle wave (Update 2018: Azerbaijan foreign broadcasting - radio "Voice of Azerbaijan" no longer broadcasts on medium waves - it has left its medium wave frequency of 1296 kHz. In addition, after choosing the program, you can listen to the recorded programs for the entire current day by selecting the corresponding time at the bottom of the mentioned page of the site), “Public Radio-Ictimai”, as well as private radio stations “Burc FM”, “Khazar”, “Lider FM”, “Antenn”, ANS, “Space 104 FM”, “Azad Azerbaijan”, “106 FM”, “ Media-FM "," ArazFM 103.3 "). At the same time, in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 2 more radio stations broadcast on the FM band (Nakhchivan State Radio and the Voice of Nakhchivan Radio).

As of 2015, according to the aforementioned Ministry, Azerbaijan has 23 television channels, 9 of which (three channels belonging to the state national television and radio company of Azerbaijan, namely: AzTV, cultural channel Medеniyyеt(translated, the word Medеniyyеt means "culture") and sports TV channel İdman Azerbaycan(in translation, the word İdman means "sport"), as well as public TV - Ictimai Televiziya, as well as private Lider TV, ATV, Space TV and ANS TV) are nationwide and are distributed throughout the country, and 14 are local, namely: Mingеchevir TV (Mingachevir), Turkel TV (Ganja-Tovuz), Kepez TV (Ganja), ELTV (Yevlakh), Kanal-S (Sheki), Cenub TV (Lankaran), RTV (Khachmaz), Aygun TV (Zagatala), Alternativ TV (Ganja), Qutb TV (Guba), Khayal TV (Guba) , Dunya TV (Sumgayit), two TV channels operate in Nakhchivan - NMR TV (State Committee of Television and Radio Broadcasting of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic) and Channel 35 TV.

In addition, as the mentioned ministry notes, "to bring information about Azerbaijan in foreign languages in neighboring and other countries", the Caspian Broadcasting Company (CBC) satellite TV channel is broadcast - about Radio Respublika and Voice of Azerbaijan radio stations and AzTV, Ictimai Televiziya and Caspian Broadcasting Company, on which Russian-language broadcasting is present, we spoke in detail above.

At the same time, as far as is known, as of the beginning of 2015, independent Azerbaijan did not have a single fully Russian-language TV channel, but the Russian-speaking public in the country has adapted to illegally watch Russian satellite platforms of direct broadcasting, or receive open satellite TV channels from Russia. At the same time, Turkish television is very popular in Azerbaijan, which comes in open form from the Türksat satellite 42.0 gr. E. At the same time, the country still does not have a single commercial direct broadcasting platform, but since 2013, from the AzerSpace 1 satellite, the Azerbaijani state provider Teleradio broadcasts (along with some Russian, Western and Turkish channels) about a dozen Azerbaijani TV channels.
