Lenovo K5 (aka Lenovo A6020a40) is the most affordable of the series budget smartphones K5 from Lenovo, released in 2016. Inexpensive and at the same time powerful enough device will plunge into the world of multimedia and entertainment.

Equipment

Depending on the region of sale, the box with the smartphone may have a different configuration, however standard set unchanged: the smartphone itself, a wired headset, Charger with microUSB cable and a set of documentation.

Also, the box may contain the original plastic bumper or protective film.

Vibe K5 Specifications

The Lenovo A6020a40 is powered by an 8-core Snapdragon 415 processor clocked at 1.4GHz. Responsible for the graphics video accelerator Adreno 405. The smartphone comes with two gigabytes of RAM.

In contrast to the more advanced, 5-inch display with IPS-matrix in Lenovo K5 has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with a pixel density of 294 per inch. The screen is quite high quality and does not cause discomfort when working with it.

The smartphone has two slots for SIM cards and separate slot under the memory card. This means that you don't have to sacrifice one SIM card when expanding the available space. Despite the fact that the device supports work in 4G networks, the LTE standard is supported only by the first SIM card.

The main camera has a resolution of 13 MP and an aperture of F / 2.2, and the front camera is 5 MP with a maximum aperture of F / 2.8.

Sample video from the camera

The battery capacity is 2750 mAh. This is enough for about 13 hours of communication in 3G networks, 8.5 hours of surfing the Internet via WiFi or 8 hours of watching movies.

The smartphone provides OTG support, which means that you can connect flash drives, mice, keyboards and other peripherals.

Appearance

The smartphone completely repeats the appearance of its "older brother" Lenovo K5 Plus. The beveled corners make the device look more compact than it actually is.

On the front side there are: front camera, earpiece, sensors, display, event indicator and three touch control buttons.

On the back there is a camera with flash, microphone, Lenovo logo and speaker grill. The back cover is mostly made of aluminum, but also has plastic inserts. This gives the device a more expensive appearance. Since the cover is removable, the memory card and SIM card slots are located underneath.

Another microphone is located on the bottom edge of the smartphone.

As for the power and volume buttons, they are located on the right side, and the connection of headphones and a charger is on the top.

The side edges are framed by a pretty silver metal-like outline.

Outcomes

In general, the Lenovo K5 smartphone is a pretty solid state employee with good technical characteristics and a pleasant appearance. The advantages of the device include the presence of two full-fledged slots for SIM cards (not a combo with microSD), a loud stereo speaker, a removable cover and a replaceable battery... Of the minuses - not very good video shooting and the lack of updates for newer versions of the operating system.

This article will be of interest to those who are concerned about purchasing a new smartphone from the middle price segment of the market. You are presented with a plus, characteristics, performance reviews and just the appearance of which is very good. We are sure that after reading it you will definitely decide for yourself whether to take it or not

Basic configuration

The device is sold and supplied in a small box made of solid and dense cardboard, onto which the images of the smartphone itself and other markings are qualitatively transferred. The cover, surprisingly, sits quite tightly, which gives hope that when transporting the phone, for example, by mail or delivery service, in the event that you order the phone through the online store, your purchase will remain intact.

After removing the cover, you will see the screen of your new gadget, dressed in protective film... Additionally, the gadget has a so-called "Case" - a protective cover made of thin matte plastic on the back of the smartphone. This, undoubtedly, pleases, since, in addition to the phone, a bonus comes to you, albeit a simple one, but still a cover that can protect your new pet from unpleasant scuffs and scratches. Taking out the phone, you will find that it was located in a small "pallet" of cardboard, which now, after removing the device, you can take it out.

The pallet also doubles as a paper envelope, so don't rush to throw it away. On the "lower floor" of the box you will find a protective film for the screen, a Micro-USB cable, a headset with a built-in microphone and a one and a half ampere USB adapter for connecting the phone to the mains.

Appearance

The first thing that catches your eye and the first thing you want to discuss is how the smartphone looks. Outwardly, the smartphone is not much different from similar models and is even somewhat lost among its motley brethren. However, its appearance is not devoid of grace in its simplicity. As far as we know, the smartphone is produced exclusively in white and golden colors, but there is definitely information that in the Indian market you can find a device in black. What is the reason for such a paucity of colorings and the inaccessibility of the black case specifically for the Russian / Ukrainian market remains unknown.

Design

If we talk about the design solutions applied to this smartphone, then first of all we will mention the dimensions:

  • Length - 142 mm.
  • Width - 71 mm.
  • Thickness - 8.2 mm.
  • Weight - 150 grams.

As you can see, the dimensions of the smartphone are practically not inferior to the same Samsung Galaxy j 7.

On the front side there is a five-inch diagonal screen with Full HD resolution. Below, at the base, there are three touch buttons for control, and at the top of the earpiece, front camera and proximity sensors, lighting.

On the right side of the case there are volume control buttons and turn on / off the phone. On the upper edge, as standard, there are ports for charging and "Jack". Behind the familiar to everyone: a camera, a flash and two speakers at the base.

Food

Now let's take a look at the technical characteristics of the plus regarding power supply. Power is supplied via a 2750 milliampere / hour battery. Alas, this battery capacity is not quite enough. With not very active work, the charge is enough, at best, for a day. With active work, respectively, less.

Lenovo k5 plus dual: electronics specifications

In order not to say that the phone is a fashion accessory, the most important thing is that it is still under the cover. Nobody will argue with this. Lenovo K5 plus, whose characteristics are very modest compared to its more formidable brothers, has in its arsenal a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor with eight cores, which, according to some reports, work in a 4x4 bundle. That is, 4 cores are more powerful, the main ones, 4 are auxiliary ones. In addition, the system uses the Adreno 405 video processor.

Lenovo vibe K5 plus a6020a46: memory specifications

The memory used by the phone for various needs is also important. If we talk about the amount of memory built into this phone, then here too Lenovo K5 plus does not show the characteristics of a super high level: 2 gigabytes of RAM, ensuring the speed of the system.

16 gigabytes of built-in storage memory, of which approximately 10.5-11 gigabytes are available. At the same time, it is possible to increase its number with a MicroSD card. Its maximum capacity should be no more than thirty-two gigabytes.

Sound and camera characteristics

Now let's talk about the characteristics of the camera, as many people choose a phone for their own needs, referring to this particular component. So, the Lenovo vibe K5 plus phone has the following characteristics:

  1. Running a little ahead, the sound of this model is not the best, but for phones of this price category it is quite tolerable. As already mentioned, the Lenovo K5 plus, whose characteristics are very average, is not the best phone in the world, so you should not expect perfect sound from it. Two speakers on the back provide you with completely inaudible sound, so you can quite comfortably listen to music or watch videos. The only major complaint is the location of the speakers. They are built in so that, when held vertically, they overlap with the palm of your hand, and when held horizontally, with your fingers, which affects the sound quality. As for the conversational speakers, they work much better, but still, in comparison with more expensive models, the difference is noticeable. The same can be said for the included headphones. They do not shine in quality, so music lovers will either have to endure a cheap sound, or buy in addition good headphones separately. In general, the sound of this phone is slightly below average, which is very, very good for its pricing policy.
  2. Now for the most important thing for phone photographers. Lenovo K5 plus has low characteristics of both cameras, main and front, but for the money that is given for this phone, it would be foolish to expect more. It sounds intimidating, but in fact we get 13 megapixels on the main camera and 5 on the front. Frankly, not enough for a full-fledged camera, but in order to periodically take a couple of photos, not really caring about the ideal quality, it is quite suitable.

Both cameras are unfortunately very light sensitive. In even daylight, the footage can still claim to be good, but if you shoot in the dark, and even worse, in bright artificial lighting, be it lamps in a dark room or streetlights in a city at night, be prepared that the footage will be blurry and color rendition will be unnaturally white. Such a feature of this device.

Conclusion

Now you can add your point of view regarding the presented phone in this article. Of course, this smartphone is good in its segment of budget smartphones, and it feels confident there, but the choice of whether to buy it or not is yours. It all depends only on your requirements for such a mobile device.

On February 21, at the MWC 2016 mobile world congress, Lenovo unveiled two new smartphones: K5 and K5 Plus. The new items can definitely be called not just brothers, but siblings, since the similarity in characteristics is 90%, only one of them is a little older and even then not very much. Let's take a look at the details.

Differences

Smartphones, to put it mildly, do not differ much in their technical characteristics and parameters. There are only two main differences: displays and processors, and the rest is absolutely identical. Both new products have a five-inch screen and support for Dolby Atmos technology, which allows you to reveal all the facets of the sound of your favorite music. If you end up with relevant and well-mixed content, then it will be generally good.

External speakers (yes, there are two of them here) play quite loudly (above average) and efficiently. Still would! How else with Dolby Atmos support?

Detailed specifications Lenovo K5 and K5 Plus

Both gadgets have a 2750 mAh battery and, according to the manufacturer, the talk time on the 2G module is up to 32 hours, 3G - up to 15.1 hours, the standby time is up to 322 hours. Of course, there is support for LTE networks. Random access memory installed 2 GB, and built-in storage of 16 GB, expandable up to 32 GB due to Micro SD memory cards. Both new items are supported by 2 SIM cards Micro format and run on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.

The usual version (VIBE K5) was not at the company's stand. There was only K5 Plus. Already on this indirect basis, we can conclude that there is no model without the "plus" prefix and there is no need to release it. Later, I will explain why, but for now let's go over the device and a short, but still user experience.

Design

Outwardly, the smartphone does not represent anything special.

The design is the most common and there are a lot of similar smartphones on the market. Personally, the novelty reminded me of the long gone Samsung Galaxy Star Plus GT-S7262.

White, plastic, strongly protruding chrome-plated frames around the perimeter of the front side.

Above the screen is a standard set of front elements: a 5 megapixel camera, sensors and an earpiece.

At the bottom there are touch-sensitive buttons for controlling the system. They are devoid of backlighting.

At the back, the device received a metal cover and plastic inserts at the top and bottom. All this is very boring and we have seen it more than once from a variety of companies.

System and performance

The device runs on Android OS 5.1. Since the novelty is completely new and many manufacturers are already installing Android 6.0 (the latest series of devices from LG, for example), the release of fresh devices with outdated operating systems is a strange step. However, the shell and software are well optimized.

Animation flies, switching between applications does not slow down - everything is fine with that.

In AnTuTu, the K5 Plus scores about 35 thousand points. Not a bad result, but also completely unbreakable. The most important thing is that the device does not behave like a budget flaw and works quite stably.

Cameras

It was decided to install a 5-megapixel front module and a 13-megapixel main module in the device. There was not the best lighting at the stand, but also not a complete collapse, so the smartphone had a chance to show itself and its photo capabilities.

It's nice that he coped with the test. Photos are of quite decent quality, a good level of detail, no problems with autofocus, and so on.

The only thing that confused me was the mistakes I made auto mode when setting the exposure. Out of about 20 frames, I left only seven pieces. The rest were either blown out, or the system made a mistake when setting the white balance. In general, if you are going to shoot with the K5 Plus, take several shots at a time. By the way, this is a general rule that applies to any photographic equipment, even if it is a reflex camera.

Outcome

Both new products are available in three colors: platinum-silver, champagne pink and graphite gray. The company showed only silver, the most versatile options. I haven't seen the rest, so I can't say anything about them.

Let's move on to the most interesting thing - cost. Firstly, Lenovo K5 Plus price will be $ 149 (approximately 11 thousand rubles). For this money, even with no appearance, the smartphone is still very good. Doesn't slow down, fresh platform (Snapdragon 616), good cameras.

Everything seems to be good. However, there is a second. This is the price for the regular version of Lenovo VIBE K5. It is $ 129 or about 10,000 rubles. What?! You pay a thousand rubles (maybe one and a half) and get a Full HD screen instead of a weak HD one and a more efficient processor. Where is the logic?! Why release a junior version at all when, from a technical point of view, it is noticeably inferior to the older one, and the price difference is very small? I have no answer to this question

However, both phones will be available in a number of countries as early as March. Nothing is known about Russia. If the smartphone goes on sale, then it will be by the summer.

Release date: March 2016 (worldwide) Price: $ 129 and $ 149

Despite the fact that Lenovo did not immediately take up smartphones, it is doing quite well. Although smartphones released under this label do not grab the stars from the sky, they fully justify the funds invested in them. For example, Lenovo K5 plus, which we are going to review now, costs only about eight thousand rubles. For that kind of money, you cannot count on something extraordinary, and we will not do it. But the smartphone met all expectations and even did more than that - it surpassed them.

The device turned out to be quite pleasant both in technical terms and in terms of appearance... True, the Lenovo K5 and K5 Plus have one thing in common, which is a weak battery. But there is nothing wrong with that, there just appears a certain inconvenience associated with the constant need to carry a charger with you and be near the outlet. In addition, buyers would be interested to find out what is the difference between other smartphones from the same line, and which one is the most profitable to buy.

When we go to the store to buy new smartphone, we pay attention to its design and characteristics, and also watch a video review in Russian, if possible. So, this model has pretty good characteristics, given the low price:

  • The display is not the largest, only five inches. But this is more than enough to watch a video or find a contact number. In addition, the device is equipped with Full HD IPS Display;
  • As for the operating system, Android 5.1 is installed here;
  • The device is powered by an eight-core processor (64-bit and 1.7 GHz);
  • RAM takes up 2 GB, and restrictions on internal memory is 16 GB. To expand the memory capacity of the device, you must comply with the limits of up to 128 GB;
  • The phone is equipped with sensors of gravity, light, proximity. In addition, it has an electronic compass;
  • You can install two SIM cards;
  • Cameras: main 13 Mp and front 5 Mp;
  • Weight: 142 grams;
  • Battery capacity 2750 mAh.

A standard video review will allow you not only to find out these characteristics, but also to see how they will work on a specific device.

Differences between K5 and K5 Plus

These two smartphones came out almost at the same time, they are very similar to each other and belong to almost the same price group. But there are also differences between them. And what they are, we will now try to find out.

As it turned out, these smartphones are practically no different. But there are two main factors that prove that there is still a slight difference:

  • Display. On the Lenovo VIBE K5 Plus, the performance is noticeably better, since it has a 5-inch IPS screen, at 1920 x 1080 pixels, which allows it to work much better with the picture and display different colors. Whereas on the K5 only 1280 x 720 pixels are used, although the rest of the parameters are identical;
  • Processors. Another very important indicator that affects the quality of the device. The cheaper model is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 (64-bit, 8 cores) with a frequency of 1.4 GHz, while the expensive one has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor (64-bit, 8 cores) with a frequency of 1.5 GHz. The difference is subtle, but it is there.

The rest of the indicators are absolutely identical, of course, if you do not take into account prices. Here she is the main one. hallmark for the buyer. Since the difference of $ 20 when buying is a little expensive, even if the amount is purely symbolic. So you can safely buy any of these models, and you won't go wrong.

Design Lenovo K5 Plus a6020

Like most smartphones from Lenovo, Lenovo K5 Plus (a6020), which we are reviewing, does not differ in bright appearance. And in terms of filling, as you can see, this device does not shine. But for a "state employee" a modest appearance and no less modest parameters are the norm.

The materials that were used to make the device in question are versatile and proven in practice. In particular, metal (aluminum) and plastic are used as side inserts. The set includes a transparent plastic case when purchasing, so that the device is not damaged.

By color scheme, available for sale:

  • White models;
  • Devices in the style of gold, that is, gold;
  • Black.

But there are problems with the black Lenovo a6020 vibe. The fact is that the device seems to be available on the official website, but it did not go on sale in our country. Perhaps this is a temporary phenomenon, but so far there are no offers for those who want to order a phone in black.

In addition, due to its size, the device is inconvenient when held in the hand. It can slip out. This is facilitated by the slippery rear panel... Therefore, if you do not want to break your brand new phone, it is advisable to initially accustom yourself to use two hands when working with the device.

Software

The Lenovo VIBE K5 Plus uses an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor. The RAM is 2 GB and the ROM is 16 GB. As for the wireless interfaces we are used to, the Lenovo VIBE K5 a6020a46 review shows that only NFC is missing. But this is not a big deal, since a much more practical 4G network has appeared in exchange.

As for heating, which is the scourge of all budget devices, it is present, and quite strong. But the rise in temperature is felt during serious tasks, such as watching videos, playing games, etc. It happens. that the video "slows down" a little, but it depends on its quality and dimensions, and the phone gets very hot. As for telephone conversations and other standard manipulations, there is practically no heating.

In general, Lenovo 5, which we reviewed, is not something unusual in the world of smartphones. This "state employee" has an unremarkable design and rather weak stuffing. But it should be borne in mind that this device is designed for simple tasks.

Today we have a review of Lenovo K5 or there is another name - Lenovo A6020, which is a novelty in 2016, first shown at the NVC-2016 technology exhibition in Barcelona. Including several more powerful modifications came out, but we'll talk about them another time.

Smartphones of the Vibe line are always referred to as devices of the premium series, that is, to the flagship flagships. But specifically, the Lenovo Vibe K5 is more of a budget phone.

The box is made of white cardboard with the image of the gadget on the front. In addition to the phone, the kit includes:

  • instruction on quick start and a warranty card;
  • charger for 5 volts, 1.5 amperes;
  • MicroUSB cable;
  • earbuds;
  • plastic plump case;
  • protective film.

Quite a rich package bundle, which is not often seen.

Appearance

Lenovo k5 case is made of plastic, glass and metal. The manufacturer offers several colors: light gray, dark gray or graphite and gold.

The front of the phone looks standard. Above the screen is an earpiece, a front camera with a 5 megapixel extension, as well as light and proximity sensors. There is also a notification indicator located in the upper right corner. It can change its color to green and red. Below the display are the standard navigation keys for the Android system. They are without backlighting, but with reflective paint.

On the right side face there is an on / off button, as well as a volume rocker. The left end is empty. A hole for a microphone is made on the underside. made of plastic. The upper end is made of plastic, which is not easy, but to improve the signal of the antennas. There is also an output for charging MicroUSB, a standard 3.5 mm jack for connecting a headset or headphones.

The back cover is made of aluminum with plastic inserts. It is removable. The lid is not very pliable, but nevertheless it can be removed, which can be generally attributed to the pluses. The main frame of the lid is made of aluminum, but the top and bottom strips are made of metal, although they are plastic.

Under the cover is a removable lithium-ion battery, two microSIM slots and a separate slot for a memory card. On the back cover there is the main antenna, under it there are several contacts from it.

There are two speakers on the bottom. One of the main features of Lenovo K5 is the presence of two stereo speakers. This, combined with Dolby Atmos technology, allows you to get a fairly high-quality sound. True, the technology can be fully appreciated only with headphones. The sound is loud and spacious.

In the upper part, there is a peephole of the main camera with an LED flash (its extension is 13 megapixels), and under it is a second microphone for noise reduction. In the middle is the Lenovo logo.

Dimensions:

  • Height - 142 mm;
  • Width - 71 mm;
  • Thickness - 8.2 mm:
  • Weight - 142 grams.

Lenovo K5 turned out to be a weighty smartphone due to its metal back cover.

The device lies comfortably in the hand.

The phone is easy to operate with one hand. There is a dusting on the back cover, but the smartphone still slips in spite of this.

Screen

The K5 has a 5-inch display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This figure is very average today. The screen is made using IPS-matrix technology. The density is 204 ppi.

The viewing angles are pretty good and of high quality. The fonts look sleek. It can be noted that the screen in this gadget turned out to be of high quality with a good margin of brightness.

Supports display up to 5 simultaneous touches. There is a light oleophobic coating on the surface. The finger glides well, but it feels like the coating is weak, and it can wear out over time.

Processor, OS and autonomy

The technical characteristics of the device are as follows:

  • Quallcom Snapdragon 415 octa-core processor. Four Cortex A-53 cores operate at a maximum frequency of 1.4 GHz, two auxiliary ones can reach speeds up to 1 GHz at low load. Although in the settings the processor is displayed as 615. This is due to the fact that they differ only in different operating frequencies. The original 615 runs at 1.7 GHz, as the 415 runs at 1.4 GHz.
  • Video accelerator Adreno 405.
  • RAM - 2 GB.
  • Built-in memory - 16 GB, where 11.6 GB will be available at the start. Supports memory cards up to 32 GB.

But how does the Lenova vibe K 5 behave in games? In heavy Asphalt 8, the picture is juicy, which does not particularly affect the smoothness of the process. The phone behaves more or less adequately. There are no brakes. But if you take, for example, football stimulants, then the results are not very good. Fps drawdown appears. Tanks also go quite smoothly, but subject to lower settings.

The processor is controversial, for games - below average.

The device works on operating system Android 5.1 with a proprietary "shell" Lenovo Light UA on top of it.

Inside the gadget, a battery of only 2750 mAh is installed, which will be enough for a normal working day when used in an average load mode. If you are going to load it with games, you will have to recharge it twice a day.

Camera

As mentioned earlier, the device has two cameras: the main one with 13 megapixels and the front one with 5 megapixels. Standard set.

The user has at his disposal:

  • Flash light.
  • Autofocus and touch focus.
  • Support HDR mode and other yardage, which can be independently configured in the camera menu. From "Auto" and motion to night photography to "Night portrait" and "Beach".

Including the owner can choose the professional mode, where he will adjust the ISO level, add contrast, saturation, sharpness or shutter speed.

Features of the front camera consists in the fact that in the settings you can select "mirror photo", that is, the image will turn out exactly the same as you see it on the smartphone screen.

  • 4 to 3 mode;
  • Auto;
  • White balance;
  • Image quality;
  • Additional effects.

But despite this, the quality of the photo is poor. The picture is a little blurry, there is no clarity and too much grain.

And when darkening the photo, in general, does not reach the level that it should be.

Perhaps, with subsequent firmware updates, this issue will be partially resolved.

The maximum video recording resolution is 1800p format. The maximum duration is 30 minutes. There is an autofocus mode and electronic image stabilization.

Results and price

What do we get in the end for 7 thousand rubles? As always, there are pros and cons.

  1. Interesting design.
  2. Separate SIM cards and memory card, that is, there is no need to choose anything.
  3. High-quality screen.
  4. Loud stereo speakers.
  1. Not all games run well, Lenovo's optimization is a bit lame.
  2. Very weak battery.
  3. The price of this device.
  4. Cameras.

Lenovo K5 is, in principle, a good smartphone that will suit most everyday tasks, but you should not expect more from it.

Video

A video review of the smartphone can be viewed below
